ah she was a pistol

There were some eye roll moments, but I could watch a whole movie/series with Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor. He was great. I agree that Reva is kind of a boring character, but I suspect she is connected with the Order 66 scene at the beginning somehow.

Also very emotional scene when Obi-Wan was telling Leia that she reminded him of someone he knew. She's as headstrong as Padme and I think it's a great character trait they've exploited with Leia.

Everything about Obi-Wan and Ewan MacGregor's portrayal was perfect. He's defeated, he's damaged, he's abandoned the force. The PTSD dreams were a great touch. This man has been through some s**t!

And please please please can there be a Qui-Gon appearance! I feel like they are setting it up. Maybe a small cameo at the end where he's finally able to connect with his Master. That would be amazing.

Overall, it's everything I wanted and I am excited and intrigued to see where it ends up.

I think we see force ghost Qui Gon. They made a point in the intro to voice-over Yoda telling Obi-Wan how he'll teach him to communicate with him. Plus, Obi-Wan called out to Qui Gon a couple of times.

This was fleshed out a lot more in the Clone Wars series, and that's what Obi Wan was referring to. She was pretty bad ass in that series and very head strong.

I hope there's a deeper story with Reva that justifies her Obi Wan obsession. I didn't buy it in the first two because she just came out of nowhere, and on top of that she seems a bit overpowered for not having some kind of special rank.

Please either fill us in on what makes her the way she is or off her before episode 4.

We're all here for Hayden va Ewan, let's not mince anything here.

Yes by all accounts he’s in the suit most of the time.

I feel like Reva is either training as a secret apprentice of Vader or is training on her own outside of the Inquisitor routine. That’s why she can do the mind read. Agreed though it’s a lame cop out.

Yup, he's going to play Vader in the suit, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a flashback or two of the friendship between Obi and Anakin.

It’s a good thing she didn’t mind read Owen at the start. Would’ve been the end of all Star Wars.

She is fairly stubborn in the PT, though I will concede her death is crap.

In Phantom Menace she accompanies Qui-Gon into Mos Espa against his wishes and later on she reveals herself to Boss Nass and leads the assault on Theed palace. It's mentioned in Attack of the Clones that the very fact that she came back to Coruscant for the military vote was dangerous and she only leaves after two assassination attempts and under orders of the Chancellor. She takes charge during the arena battle and during the subsequent battle

Her entire arc in Revenge of the Sith is stubborness. She can't believe Anakin could fall to the dark side and constantly tells Obi-Wan there is good in him. She even flies to a lava planet to confirm her belief even after Obi-Wan told her he saw video evidence of Anakin killing younglings. Love can be a powerful drug, but she's still being stubborn in the face of overwhelming evidence. The broken heart death is just crap and it should have been more explicitly stated that it was Vader's force choke that mortally wounded her or something. Broken heart is just lazy writing on George's part.

Padme was a Queen and then a Senator (basically the leader of the opposition). She does not verbally shred people like Leia, but that could come down to her high positions in government and overall maturity compared to that of a 10 year old. It's a callback to Leia's personality in the OT, especially A New Hope and Empire.

There also a lot of baggage from the Clone Wars show that this show is going to exploit and going forward, I have a feeling Star Wars is going to be much more interconnected and self-referential like Marvel. For better or worse, seems to be the Disney way. It's the reason they rebooted the canon after all.

Ewan is definitely showing wrinkles. It's weird considering that the series is only 10 years after Revenge of the Sith but in real life Ewan has aged 20 years, but for him to look more like Alec Guiness in a new hope, I would have hoped that they started to whiten his hair.

That said, the desert is a harsh place to live.

Fake Jedi dude is straight out of his character from Silicon Valley. Couldn't not unsee it. Didn't like it, he should have gotten sliced in half.

I would compare the original humor with the original Ghostbusters and the new humor like the all female ghostbusters. Instead of the characters you love doing their job and dealing with absurd things, you have SNL sketch type characters acting stupid.

In the canon very few people know Vader’s true identity. I believe it’s Yoda, Obi-Wan, Palpatine, Tarkin, and now apparently Reva and that’s it? Might have missed one but Vader’s true identity is unknown to pretty much everyone.
Did they actually call Anakin Darth Vader at all in the prequels for Obi Wan to make that connection? I did find this part weird. I thought Obi Wan just thought he had killed Anakin in the lava and that was that. I don't like that Reva knows his identity either. There must be a closer connection with the two or whatever her vendetta is ("what I'm owed").

I want some explanation of why Anakin adopted a deep english accent suddently when he takes on the Vader persona... or is he going to suddenly have a Canadian accent when he dehelmets lol

I'm still bothered by that after 20 years. How hard would it have been for Lucas to cast an actor who at least sounded a bit like James Earl Jones as Anakin? I can buy that the suit makes it deeper and everything but not to the point that it changes his accent - unless he's channeling some kind of Batman thing to hide that he is Anakin.

I have no problem with Leia being able to evade capture for as long as she did. They were running over rough terrain (that she's familiar with) with many obstacles. In that situation, being smaller with a lower centre-of-gravity can be an advantage.

Also, the thugs were probably under orders not to harm the princess, so they didn't want to risk tackling her and accidentally smashing her head on a rock and the crime going from kidnapping to murder.

I liked the first two episodes for the most part, but how was Obi-Wan expecting to train Luke when he was busy forgetting how to use the force?

From the Revenge of the Sith book, from the end This is what it feels like to be Anakin forever

Quote:
Padme? Are you here? Are you all right? you try to say, but another voice speaks for you, out from the vocabulator that serves you for burned-away lips and tongue and throat.

Even at the end of return of the Jedi, his voice was labored, and far different from the voice of Vader.

When Palpatine designed the Vader suit it was all about intimidation. Anakin was tall, Vader was far taller, Anakin was bulky Vader was broad. Even the voice was made to be intimidating and brass.

In the Revenge of the Sith book as well when Anakin was told that he wouldn't be a master, when he talked about how unfair it was, his voice changed to something dark and deep and oily in the book. We got a glimpse of proto vader as his fall to the Dark side was already underway.

Yes, in Episode 3, Obi-Wan and Yoda return to the Jedi Temple to change the emergency message that's being sent out telling all surviving Jedi that the war is over and to return to Coruscant. When they arrive, they see the slaughtered Jedi and younglings lying on the ground. Yoda notices that some of them were killed by a lightsaber and not blaster fire. Obi-Wan decides to watch the security recordings (even though they both seem to suspect the truth) and sees Anakin killing Jedi. Then, they see Palpatine arrive where he calls Anakin his new apprentice, "Lord Vader". Then, Yoda says that Anakin is gone, "consumed by Darth Vader".

The scene starts about 1:37 into the movie on Disney+.

----------

My guess is this is also how Reva knows who Vader actually is. She was a youngling who escaped the slaughter but probably witnessed Anakin killing her friends and either saw Palpatine arrive and call him "Lord Vader", or she was hiding in the archives when Obi-Wan and Yoda watched the recordings and found out then.

I suspect his true identity is not common knowledge and it's a secret Reva has kept close but she knew it would matter to Obi-Wan.
