I think the No Goods take at least 1 in Edmonton.
They tend to get a lot of help in their toilet bowl. Especially late / at opportune times.
Hopefully it's just 1 and we can get the split.
Really interested to see how game 2 goes. Admittedly Edmonton and Smith have bounced back after ####y performances pretty consistently in the last couple months.
I'm hoping and will be elated if we can buck that trend and stick it to them again. If we can, I think it will break their spirits.
Man.. Woodcroft vs Sutter is such a coaching mismatch, its nutty. Bowness makes WC look like a random they just pulled in off the street.

I'm not sure but I have a feeling those words are going to be part of E=NG's next thread title.

Has anyone claimed Kylington's smirk as their avatar yet?
If not (I would be shocked if someone hasn't yet), I think it's time for me to add an avatar

Because they're a group of individuals.
They get things done as 23 individuals, ergo "to a man".

It was shocking how easily the Oilers let the Flames take the puck into the centre of the ice to generate scoring chances.
Flames just need to take a breath and refocus on their system. I don't think the Oilers have the horses to keep up.

I watched some TSN for post game coverage last night, and Ryan Rishaug (I can’t remember now who he was on with) did a hit about the game. Rishaug basically said that besides the goaltending and the craziness of the game, the ultimately this was domination by the flames. So he certainly made a point of talking about how the Flames were the dominant team regardless of everything else going on.

Exactly this. He's their marquee player. He's gonna be motivated to join his big brother in the dance.

I haven't seen a single guy own the Flames like this since Gretzky. They need to find a solution to him. Where is Badger Bob Johnson when you need him??? If the Flames play with the same intensity and flow they displayed in the first 30 minutes, this series will be over shortly. They let McDavid have the freedom he had after that, and this series is going to stretch out and give the Oilers hope.
|
That was certainly the result, but not the way it was played in my opinion.
McDavid got points on some goals really shouldn't have gone in. His expected goals in the game was under 1.3 in all situations last night which is pretty tight for containing McDavid.
He was held to that point in only one game in the LA series, and finished the 7 games with an average of 2.45 per game.
He was about 35% under his regular season average as well.

The league was smaller then, with 4 divisions. The Flames and Oilers were both in the same division and we played each other 8 times during the regular season...already setting up a fierce battle to advance in the playoffs.
They were both in the Smythe Division so only one of them could get out to advance further. That made games even more intense as it was tough for either team to realize that one of the two top teams would not advance. Those games were REAL battles.

Right. in 87-88, weren't they in a dogfight for the president's trophy until the last few weeks? There's an amazing game on youtube of a game in March at the dome with them and the Flames winning. (I realise what happened in the 88 playoffs) but as someone who was only 3 when they won the cup, and watching it, it was an education and an insight into the pure hatred of the BOA. I moved to Cochrane in 1997 from Europe, and my first hockey experience was singing the national anthem with the Calgary Boy's Choir at a regular season game between the Avalanche and the Flames. Got to watch it from a box after the anthem. I was instantly hooked. I was quickly indoctrinated into the E=NG at the time, even when I wasn't even aware the franchise was in its darkest period of its existence.

Good luck in enemy territory. When using the washrooms, don't be shy, pee on the floor a little bit.

This comment is so on-message coming from an Edmontonian where:
- There's something in the water
- Leon Drasaitl gets pissy
- They're up and down like a toilet seat
... Oiler fans are probably used to urinating all over the place.

Don’t worry, the off-season erases any realism Oilers fans absorb over the course of a season.

Yeah, cause that'll show em!

That's even worse then. Like they didn't see it go off an Edmonton player? The penalty box thing is a little more obscure, but they should know what an offside is without having to think about it.
I wish they would have challenged. Would have been a free powerplay after.
