Maybe Monahan will play better after a bit of rest and recovery. Darryl seemed to be suggesting this.

Also not sure if Monahan will be bought out. With an off-season to fully rehab from his surgery, he might actually have a better year next year, at least as good as whatever player you can sign with the cap hit saved by buying out the last year of his contract.

The players you can sign are Gaudreau and Tkachuk. It doesn't matter if he can bounce back or not, you can't take that chance and you need that cap. No way Monahan is here next year.

Andersson is so poised out there. He's really matured as a player this season.

Gaudreau is playing his best hockey ever without monahan.

Playing with skilled players and enough tough guys out there to make sure no one takes cheap shots at him.

He is in a really good situation right now.

Sure he could leave and go to philly or NJ but they are bad teams.

I can see why he was hyped up in every aspect, but labelled as extremely unlucky at putting the puck in the net. Some finish is all all that's separating him from being a bonafide top 6 player.
