Mark Giordano definitely would want to go to a strong Stanley Cup contender. It'd be likely his last shot, and worth a few months living out of hotels.

Jesus Christ... Brad's sitting on a gold mine of D men, we could sell any of them multiple 1sts and prospects.
Zadorov for 4 1st round picks and a prospect incoming.

Out of most of the top names out there, the only one I wouldn’t mind seeing is Gio, and that too, for mainly sentimental reasons. I don’t know how we fit in the cap though.
Depth d-men are a different thing though, and there could be a decent few options out there for cheap.

AFAIK these lists are generally due on July 1 (or equivalent) of each season. There aren't a ton of surprises in the standings, but it would be pretty tough to engineer a weak NTC like that anyways.

I agree in that nobody on this roster would offer up their spare bedroom.

There is only one way to get bigger than Zadorov/Gudbranson on the back end. CHARA.
Good insurance policy for our two towers.

Chara would be an excellent add! I didn't even think of that.
Would anyone else pull the trigger on this move if Anaheim falls further back in the standings?
CGY:
Dube
FLA 2nd 2022
ANA:
Rackell

If we are giving Dube away for a rental, I’d hope to get someone a smidge better than Rakell TBH.

Have to think any other impact players that we trade for this season would have to be rentals and wouldnt be returning next season.

Those defensive numbers look great!
I wouldn't expect him on any of our PP units. He would be a nice addition to our third line and PK.

I understand that there have been multiple reports that the Flames are looking for a depth defenseman. Is this really that big of a need?
I look at the Flames and they have six defensemen that have been playing well all year. They have Stone, Valimaki, Mackey and Kinnvail already in the system.
Is that veteran defenseman they could add really that much better than those four guys that they will give up a significant asset?
If they can get someone for a long-shot prospect or a late pick, I am okay with that, but trading a second rounder for a guy marginally better than those four makes no sense to me.

Zach Sanford might be a nice depth forward pick up.
Played well for the Blues in their playoff run and is a big body LW that can put up respectable bottom 6 numbers.

The only real concern would be if Hanifin goes down. Losing anyone else would be manageable, but rolling Kylington-Zadorov-Valimaki/Mackey down the left could be ugly.
I don't think any of our RHD have experience playing on the left side.

That too. It's quite often the case that players bunk with teammates.
A chance to play for the Cup, or hanging out all spring at Pike's Market?
Twenty years from now, he'd be kicking himself for not going for it.

I believe I have heard a number of GM's, Trelving and Sutter among them, say you need 8 NHL D in the playoffs.
The question is; do the Flames consider Valimaki, Mackey, and Kinnvail NHL defenseman? I doubt it.
When they say 'NHL Defenseman' I think they mean guys who have hundreds of games/ multiple seasons under their belts. Not guys who have a handful of games (Mackey) or none at all (Kinnvail). Valimaki might be a guy but I would bet Sutter goes to Stone first.

If I recall the 2004 the Flames used 9 Dmen and one was Evans.
Having Stone, Valimaki, Mackey as the 7 to 9 isn't a bad start. Beyond that you have Kinnvail, Poolman, Gravel and a few others that come with some pro experience.
