For next few months treiliving will be recovering from these tough negotiations. Takes a lot out of you when you talk trade for this long. Considering he usually zeros in on a player without a backup, we won't be seeing another or any move for a while.
Next move will likely be trying to sell Gaudreau at the trade deadline or buying depth dmen in they're in a playoff race.

Gaudreau is going to leave for nothing because he won't sell while the chance for 2-3 home playoff dates is there. That's literally all that matters.
You're probably right about the defense though. No mid picks this year but I bet the 2023 2nd, 3rd and 4th are burning a hole in BP's pocket
I wonder who he targets? Maybe the Canucks will trade him Hamonic or Schenn?
That's kind of the point. You might be able to get them at a reduced cost, even with an extension.
Only way Nashville would allow Calgary (or any team) to negotiate an extension before trading for Forsberg would be for a higher cost than as a simple UFA rental.
Edit: think you may have been inferring that there would be a slightly added cost with an extension upon second reading.

flames really should go out and snag kravstov. It's such and easy plug and play fit into rw. Then again, walker duehr seems like he might be a surprise performer as well. Line him up with monny and see what happens.
If Kravstov gets traded, can he still play in the NHL this season? Or is it one of those situations where because he played in Europe already, he would have to go through waivers?

They could solve it by recalling him, then trading him.
Like seriously. This guy needs to be a Flame. Makes no sense to me how he is in Russia right now. Pay the price. Stack RW depth, slap him with Monahan and bingo bango bongo. Bob's yer uncle.

I rarely watch the Preds but Forsberg really stood out to me when they were in town recently. He'd be a great add to the Flames and he shoots right! Though, hockeydb tells me he plays LW? Has that been his entire career because he'd be excellent on the RW with Mang and Dube.

I mentioned is in relation to the Tkachuk trade rumours, that ended up being bunk anyway, but Bobby Ryan is still a free agent and has publicly said he still wants to play (right shooting RW).
I know he isn't the top line player he used to be, but I think he can still contribute as a middle 6 depth player and would likely come cheap. He was on a PTO with Detroit but was release after Raymond won a spot. The Wings left the door open in the event of injuries but Yzerman also suggested that another team would likely sign him before then.
7 goals and 7 assists in 33 games last season, which is a 17 goal, 34 point pace over 82 games. Not bad for a middle six winger. He is often praised for his professionalism and leadership as well. I think he would be a good depth player anyway and he tends to be clutch when it counts. He could be the 2021 version of the 2004 Gelinas. Damn, I should be his agent.
Still has a heck of wrister.

The Flames haven’t used up their “all the 2013 first round forwards” idea yet. I doubt you can get Barkov or Mackinnon, but maybe Burakovsky, Mantha, Nikushkin or Hartman. No Domi though.

The Gaudreau is going to leave/be traded crowd never give up no matter what. When it is announced he has re-signed they will probably start a sign and trade rumour. His agent and Tre are talking, he wants to be here, he will be here, get the hell over it.

Not to say he isn't a good player but having silky hands doesn't usually correlate with NHL success. Look at Rob Schremp. Or like, a million other players that are great at stick handling but can't read a play for #### lol. Nice goal though.

Gaudreau being traded or leaving via free agency is just as viable as him re-signing. I hope you at least are in acceptance that it's very possible or you are going to be as disappointed as the fans that thought the Flames were going to land Eichel.

That's funny, Rob Schremp was the first player I thought of watching that.
Not to say he won't be good but yeah a lot more than silky hands or I'd be in the NHL.

I dig but this guy is 6 ‘3. He back checks. Size and hands here. IMO this team needs a package like that.
And that clip is from the KHL arguably the second best hockey league in the world.
