I’m actually not convinced Buffalo would want Mony and his $6.3 million cap hit. His game wasn’t looking that great before the injury , let alone what he looks like on our 4th line this year .

The way an Eichel tarde works best is a three way deal where someone gives you assets for Tkachuk that are of value to Buffalo.
And then you suck it up for a while until Eichel ready to play.
And assume you re-sign Gaudreau.
There are a lot of moving parts for the Flames, even without a potential Eichel trade.

They may take him as a cap dump to even out the cap hits, but he wouldn't be representing value in the trade. And there is always the chance he bounces back, and Buffalo would get a windfall.

IMO Mangiapane is a whole lot better than Dube and would hope Buffalo would see it that way.
Like you I am OK with selling high on Mangiapane but the rest of the compensation should reflect how good he is.

After giving it some thought, I think Tkachuk and a smaller + (1st or Zary/Pelletier) is ideally what you'd want to deal for Eichel.
30 million between Gaudreau, Tkachuk and Eichel would be too much to work around, and it can be argued Matthew while a great asset to have, isn't playing at a $9MM dollar level and it's hard to say if he will get better over time. But Buffalo can eat those dollars and gets a useful player who is still young.
Shipping Matthew for eichel would give us more cap flexibility and with the overpriced 1 year deals for the d-vets coming off the books we can afford those raises for Gaudreau and Bread.

I agree with this. I also think that with the progression Dube is showing at centre early in the season, he could be the most important player for the Flames to hold on to.

Is there any process of source checking on HF? Is this poster reputable or just a guy. Because I mean here I know mods will message someone to verify the source if you're playing insider. Would be nice to know if this is either a real genuine thing, something that might be true, something that is probably not true, or a teenager doing creative writing.

He didn’t say it was plausible. He said it was happening.
I didn’t say Buffalo was going to 100%. I said they could recoup assets from Tkachuk. They could. There is precedence.

not that i know of, I just keep seeing his rumor referenced and think it would sure be silly if people are debating who to include of Mangiapane/Dube in a trade if the source of that rumor is a BS artist making things up because nobody over there checks into it.

Any debates about who should be included in a trade are silly, because this is not the sort of information teams are sharing with anyone in the middle of negotiations. I am quite sure even the connected HF poster is not privy to that sort of information.

I noticed he posts a lot. When the saravelli/Friedman Vegas development came up he was going through the motions like everybody else over there. Didn't appear to be 'in the know' still from what I could tell.
I think the guy might be just a rumour artist.
Which means we could be back to having no idea what the Flames ask is and how far apart they are.
That could be good or bad. Maybe its less than the proposals we're throwing around. Maybe it's more.

Tkachuk won't be traded to Buffalo for an LTIR. Ppl keep trying to make the numbers work like he isn't 6 months away from contact. Even if Eichel comes back around the trade deadline we only need to move out 3-4m in the coming months to fit him. (Pro-rated cap maths). Vegas isn't moving a big contract in the rumors, and they are in cap hell.
We are not going to tank our season to send a star player to Buffalo thus damaging their intentional tank. For a possible black ace.

Tkachuk out doesn't make or break our season if Eichel enters the fold later. He's contributed 0.5 PPG so far while other guys have spearheaded our performances.
And if Buffalo is tanking they're doing a bad job of it. No question in my mind they'd value Tkachuk and what he brings, at his age.
Eichel is one hell of a black ace. And Sutter himself said he's here to win. So I'd say it fits their current predicament just fine.
But you can go ahead and believe what you want.

You have to be cap complaint to make the trade and then the team can put him on ltir. Vegas has $8 million in cap space right now because of ltir. They don’t need to shed all $10 million the day of trade like the flames do. I believe flames have to shed $9 million to make it work . Vegas could shed $6 million the day if trade and try and figure the rest out during coming months .

Tkachuk is the best possession player on the team.
Leads the team in high danger chances
What is this conversation even about right now.

Well, no, he didn’t say it was happening. He gave you a reason, which seemed logical, as to why it wouldn’t happen. Read it again.
True, Buffalo could flip Tkachuk whether that be this season, or offseason. I’m sure there would be no shortage of teams interested in Tkachuk. That said, I think fans underestimate how difficult it is to make moves of this magnitude. Pretty sure Buffalo would rather acquire the types of assets they are looking for in the one trade they are going to have to make.
If the Flames are looking to acquire Eichel, it’s to take a step forward into being a contender. Trading Tkachuk, especially for a player that would be out for 4 months after the trade(?), seems to fly in the face of that. Are the Flames a playoff team without Tkachuk or Eichel in the line up? Maybe, but it gets a whole lot tougher. Especially if they encounter any other injury/covid situations. I don’t see the Flames taking that risk. Trading significant assets for Eichel only to jeopardize this season seems unlikely to me. If there is a deal to be had, I think the Flames are offering up Dube, Valimaki or Kylington, and a 1st as the key components of a deal.
My bet is the Flames do not ante up at the end of the day. I would start looking at teams like the habs, and others, who are well out of the playoff picture by Nov 1st and seeing what might be out there.
