The following is all my subjective opinion but:
2018-19? Kylington was awesome in the calendar year 2018. His play definitely dipped in Jan 2019, but that could have been attributed to a mid-season slump, which... pretty much every player will have. Kylington pretty much never saw the ice again the rest of the way, even though the Kylington-Prout pairing proved very effective in all the right ways. I get what the logic in acquiring Fantenberg was - he seemed to be a better fit as Andersson's partner on the third pair - but we lost a lot of dynamic ability.
2019-20? I'll agree here. Not because Kylington played poorly however with respect to turnovers et al, but because he didn't produce offensively, and Gustaffsson did.
2020-21? He lost his spot to Valimaki almost by
default without any merit / demerit. Do you really want to argue that Valimaki or Nesterov played "well enough"? And while I'm praising Sutter previously, I think it's still inane that he didn't try Kylington out
somewhere once Hanifin was done of the season. I have to hope that Sutter's logic actually
was tied to the crazy expansion draft theories.
