Good value for a 4th liner.
Not to mention he's a Darryl Sutter player, and also allows Trevor Lewis to shift over to RW (and/or split games between them).
Flames are gonna be beastly defensively this season.

I think we need Jordan Nolan.
Clearly this signing means the Eichel trade is done, Monahan is being shipped out and Richardson will be one of our bottom 6 centres.

It is a really curious signing. I get the need for a veteran defensive centre who can win faceoffs and kill penalties, but Richardson only got in 17 games last year with the Preds.
Surprised it is not a PTO.
Flames must be having trouble attracting even veteran PTOs to camp and have to pay up first. Sucks to be Calgary.

I think these veteran signings mean we are going for it. If Ruzicka/Gawdin play better than him, they'll play and he can be in the press box. If not he's proven before he's decent in this role

So the Flames are slowly morphing into post-apex Kings. I sure hope the goaltending is good this season or it's going to be a long one.

For better or for worse, it seems they are also trying to fill a leadership void. Surround the perennial underachievers with veterans who've won. Perhaps also translators for Darryl "tough love" Sutter.
