My beef is with statements like "CP can be such an embarrassment". You essentially position yourself as the hockey expert, and everyone that disagrees is an embarrassment. You also only address responses with exaggerations, trying to poke holes in other people's argument instead of trying to understand where they are coming from.
"I don't know who would want Monahan"

doesn't take a hockey expert to disagree with that. Its the over the top bashing of Flames players that's annoying. I have a feeling that if he was traded he would become certain posters favorite player in the NHL.

Monahan+ mackey+2nd 2022 for Hertl+Labanc?

We'd still have some room to sign another RD.

You'd want another 2 players on that roster and at the league minimum you'd be over. Not by a lot though.

And some would immediately hate him and wish for failure.

I'm kind of happy Monahan didn't get moved because I think it would have been a case of selling low. I'm holding out hope that maybe he can stay healthy and have a bounce back year under Sutter as to me that's a better return that getting some middling draft picks or B level prospect.

A 21-man roster (if another RD is signed)? Highly unlikely.

Nah I like SM no matter what...he has always put it all on the line for the Flames.

Can't be mad at a guy for not being Nate, Crosby, McDavid, ect. He is an above average NHLer and could play in any top six in the league.

We’ll find out this year for sure.

Monahan has the tools to be a triggerman. He proved that over the years riding shotgun with gaudreau. But teams figured out how to neutralize that pairing and Monahan has been injured alot. Due to those items I think he’s going to have a different role. One that I’m not 100% sure he has the physical tool box to fill. Second line 2 way center.

I personally don’t think he’s a good enough skater or physical enough to fill that slot. But hoping he comes in healthy and motivated and proves me wrong. If he doesn’t I literally have no idea what the Flames will do.

I'm still holding out hope he does get moved before the season starts, I believe playing without the guy who has propped up his stats his entire career is going to plummet his trade value even further than it is now.

according to Jeremy Rutherford, there is very little market for Vladimir Tarasenko, and he is likely to start the season on the Blues roster.

If this happens, there is very little cap space for Robert Thomas, who JR says wants a contract similar or more than Jordan Kyrou $2.8M AAV

I said in the other thread that teams should target Robert Thomas for an offer sheet

I'm confused on which little details can be ommited from discussion and which to include.

So far I've got age is included, as is career points (but only if a certain age).
Injuries are not included and recent form isn't included.

Do all GMs get a copy of this rating system?

per CapFriendly, the Avs have signed Jack Johnson to a PTO.

Remember when Jack and Erik were that top pairing for USA?

more on the Blues

teams interested in Tarasenko (top rumours have been Carolina, and NYI) were only interested if the Blues retain up to 50%. Apparently Armstrong is not willing to retain any, or very little

Tyler Bozak is training in St Louis with other Blues players. Belief is he wants to re-sign with the Blues, but waiting for Thomas signing and Tarasenko trade.

Adams wanting 4-6 pieces and Armstrong not wanting to retain on Tarasenko are morons and deserve to get blue balled by the rest of the league indefinitely.

don't know about Adams, but I would think the two-time Stanley Cup champion knows what he is doing

In fairness to both of these GMs, neither of them want the player gone, it is the players in both situations who want out, so they are going to have sit and wait until the team gets what they want.

They signed contracts, they owe the team the service. The team has no reason to trade them at a discount or take a loss on it just because the player wants out.

4 to 6 pieces is a quarter of a roster. For one player.

That’s rediculous.

I doubt Tarasenko or Eichel are going anywhere soon. Mainly because of the risk around their health.

were not talking about a former player who won 35 years ago and never won anything as a manager; Army is managing a top franchise now; doing so well enough that Hockey Canada chose him to manage Team Canada at the Olympics
