How is Tony Deangelo going to build chemistry with his new teammates if he can't socialize with them?
Or is this a good thing?

I think every team is going to have to adopt a vaccination policy. What team wants to be directly linked to a mass-spread event? What teams want to have deaths be traced right back to their games? Kind of surprised and actually disappointed that the Flames haven't already adopted this stance.

Another shoe falls... The WHL has adopted a mandatory vaccination policy for all players and team and league personnel.
https://twitter.com/user/status/1427404972182933508
Quote:
Effective immediately, all WHL roster players, hockey operations staff and other team and WHL Office personnel along with officials must be fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start of the 2021-22 WHL Regular Season. The WHL Regular Season opens Friday, October 1, 2021.
In addition to players, the mandatory vaccination policy will apply to General Managers, Coaches, Head Scouts or Director of Player Personnel, Trainers, Equipment Managers, On-ice and Off-ice Consultants, On-ice Officials and ice level Off-ice Officials (penalty box attendants; timekeepers and scorekeepers) and any other individuals who interact directly and on a regular basis with players.

The WHL regular season starts six weeks from this coming Friday. Any unvaccinated people who are subject to this requirement will need to get their first shot by Friday in order to be compliant in time for the start of the season.

They stopped at strongly recommending that players be placed with billets that have had the entire household double vaccinated. Kinda hard to force billets to get vaccinated, but you can put them low on the totem pole.

LV Raiders will require fans to be vaccinated. The more teams and more sports that do this the better
Sounds like the Raiders are the first team to do this in the NFL

The New Orleans Saints are also requiring proof of vaccination or a PCR test. If you are a season ticket holder who refuses to do one or the other, you’re SOL and are not allowed to opt out for the year or get your money back.

Flames are a weird organization.
Coach used a derogatory term in the room years ago and was fired on the spot, and yet when it comes to the biggest public health risk in decades they are laggards.

It's starting to seem that all teams will end up there before the start of the season. Flames will be the last to conform.

I think something to consider is that Alberta has virtually no restrictions. Other provinces still do. If I had to guess I’d say the Flames need to take their time to determine which route will cost them the most money.
If letting people in with no restrictions will be the most profitable you can bet that’s what they’ll do.

And I suspect they are already hearing from both sides - with season ticket holders saying they will cancel if there are no restrictions and other season ticket holders saying they will cancel if they are any.
The province is pretty divided on much of this. I recall a study that pretty much showed half of Albertans felt Kenney did too little and the other half felt he did too much.
Tough situation for the Flames. But the trend from other teams will push them in that direction I think.

Or, they can just do the right thing.
Vaccination, or no entry.

Agreed. I don't think the Flames have much choice but to require vaccination. They can be the last to say it, but they must.

I would be shocked if they don't announce something in the coming days of weeks. It's all a process.

Getting vaccinated is a no brainer. Everyone should.
But with the way cases are exploding. I'm not so sure mass indoor events are going to be a good idea, even with vaccination and testing.
Some smart people are saying this surge is about to hit a peak and I desperately hope they're right. But if your goal is to avoid Covid, I wouldn't go to a hockey game with 18,000 people right now, all vaccinated or not.
Then the next question is whether having a shot within "x" months will be the requirement.
This f***ing Covid.
