No vaccine = not part of society. This is literally segregation.

Segregation by choice of the segregated.

No I don't. Please stop guessing how I feel. I've never said I hate anyone that is not vaccinated.

Nope. But if they want to partake in things where there are large groups of people - being vaccinated should be a requirement.

Once again I didn't say this.
Yes I said stay the eff home. And I think you know what I meant by that. But nowhere did I say they wouldn't be part of society.

Choose not to get vaccinated, choose not to get to participate in some activities. That’s not dumb. It’s just consequences.

This is how they are doing it in France.
"Authorities have set up a health pass that will allow people to access restaurants, bars, planes and trains.
At present, venues that accommodate more than 50 people already require proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test.
The pass will be required by all adults from the beginning of August and include children over the age of 12 from 30 September.
In order to obtain the pass, people must have proof they are fully vaccinated, recently tested negative or recently recovered from the virus.
On 24 July, about 160,000 people protested across the country against the Covid pass and mandatory vaccinations for health workers."
That's the type of thing I think is perfectly reasonable. Included the full quote to note the protests by those that disagree.
The concept of people who are vaccinated having more freedoms than those that aren't - is being used in different ways in many parts of the world.

F people that are not vaccinated is not a form of hate? Oh, F them but warm fuzzy feelings you love them.

I don't think you should decide this, I think the rule of law should.

How is this not saying, no vaccine means you are not part of society? That is exactly what you are saying.

But there are MOUNDS of data supporting getting vaccines. And what I see in this thread are some people who are deliberating ignoring actual data and deliberating spreading information.
In my opinion using facts and information has clearly only been so effective - which is why I'm in favor of vaccine passports so there are consequences to choosing not to get the vaccine (if you are able to).
Which takes us back to where this started. If you want to go to a hockey game - you should have to get a vaccine. Don't want a vaccine? Cool. You shouldn't get to then partake in that type of event.
|
You’re frustrated and upset and have every right to be. I get that and I too am disappointed that everyone won’t agree to a vaccine. We express it a little differently but my heart is with you. I know people that I believe are fundamentally good, reasonably intelligent people that haven’t gotten the vaccine for reasons that I can’t really fathom. But I can’t bring myself to say #### them.
I’ve always been good with idea of a vaccine passport, especially as long as the vaccines remain the difference maker. I guess someone else can decide what that threshold is. 90% effective, 80% whatever. In the US, no vaccine has yet to receive full FDA approval so seems like that needs to come first before you start talking seriously about vaccine passports.
Should we still wear masks at hockey games even if everyone is vaccinated to get the risk to an even lower level? What level is that? Or do we not want to do that because masks are a pain in the ass and a vaccine shot is over in 5 seconds.

But it's NOT exactly what I'm saying because nowhere did I use those words.
And of course I shouldn't be the one to decide. I'm not in charge. But I can have my opinion on how things should work.

I believed this too. But the last 1.5 years has shaken that belief in many ways, including in the province I have called home for my entire life. I fear that this has revealed how selfish most people are. How unwilling they are to sacrifice for the good of others. And minimal sacrifice like wearing a mask. And the anti science movement concerns me greatly.
I wrote this on a different social media platform some time ago and I still feel this way:
"I'm disappointed in my province.
Not just the leadership but the people. I'm disappointed in the intentional and willful ignorance. I'm disappointed in the selfishness being displayed by many. I'm disappointed at those who are making irrational decisions by choosing to ignore data and information that is available from credible sources instead choosing to buy into the spread of miss-truths. I'm disappointed by those that think this is a hoax. I'm disappointed by those that blame the media. I'm disappointed by those that ignore the deaths of thousands, the sacrifice being made by our health care and other front line workers. It's offensive to me that someone could say this is just the flu. It offends me that some folks have an opportunity to get a shot and refuse to do so for irrational reasons. I am disappointed in those that can't do even that part.
I'm disappointed that this pandemic has surfaced these parts of our province.
It's not everyone. But it's too many.
If we had collectively done more of the right things we would be far closer to the end of this. Instead we continue to do too many of the wrong things and not nearly enough of the right ones.
For the first time, I'm wondering if this is where I should make my home and where we should raise our daughter.
If this sounds preachy so be it. We are better than this.
At least I used to think we were."

To be fair we do lock up others that are a danger to society that put others in harms way to protect the greater masses. So maybe your onto something there.....
The bolded is definitely a dog whistle . Wonder what you could be trying to be saying I wonder... and no you are not being persecuted like the nazis did to the jews. Such a terrible argument that anti maskers and anti Vax love to make .

Well said.
I do believe people are ultimately the same everywhere so don’t be too hard on Alberta. Or America. Or wherever.

Medical segragationhas begun with hockey games, where does it end.
This magical injection doesn't stop you catching covid, it doesn't stop you transmitting covid, so you supporters of this passport are just as capable of passing covid on as the next person, so why does that make you any different to someone who hasn't had the injection, it doesn't!!!! You have just been made to feel special and doing your bit for society.
You can call this a conspiracy theory and me a tin foil hat wearer but once you get used to having your passport for covid, what if they turn around and go, sorry no entry until you go vegan or take another injection of their choice.
My goodness you people are sleep walking into some sort of tyranny.

I am neither of those things. This discourse on this forum has become incredibly toxic. To be clear, we lock people up that break the law, are you saying it should be law to get vaccinated and if you don't, your freedoms are taken away?
Also #### off with the dog whistle crap your example never crossed my mind.

Well for one didn't think the first part needed green text
2. You brought up the idea by saying it as a hypothetical of putting people in camps . What the hell else could be talking about other than internment camps you obviously were not talking about a slleep away camp with nightly panty raids.

I don't think anti vaxxers should be locked up, but I fully support not allowing them into venues like this.

You said this:
"you hope everyone that gets covid and is not vaccinated dies."
Which I never said.
Which I did refute.
Again not so much fun when someone does it to you eh?
