Went with Mackey. Highest floor, and has a great chance of making a difference in the NHL as soon as the upcoming season.

History is not a predictive tool, nor is it deterministic, rather it is a means to understand our current context.

Context is important, though. I disagree that the Flames have struggled to identify goaltending talent. Both Gillis and Parsons were blue-chip goalie prospects heading to the AHL. Both of them had their careers derailed by injuries, which is not something that an organisation can project.

I enjoy these rankings! I know it's silly but I don't like voting because to me it's like ranking kids * I know! Dumb.*
Stromgren's upside is really intriguing. Big, fast and skilled is tantalizing. This could be semantics but I'm more a fan of 'powerful' than 'heavy' players. To me heavy means strong on the puck and strong on skates but you could be standing in the corner protecting puck and be heavy.
Powerful entails being heavy but powerful skating is an attribute I'd like to see more of in the system.
Stromgren, according to reports I've read, is not only a powerful skater but a shifty one too. The videos of him coming down the right wing, getting to about the half wall distance but then cutting to the middle with deft, fast, hands is fun to watch! Hopefully he can figure out a deceptive hard shot to finish that move to the middle off.

Stromgren is going to play. He knows where to go.

I went with Ruzicka
He’s younger than some of the options (Mackey is almost 3 years older) and seems close. Has size and skill

Big player that can skate. Has been playing against older and bigger players. I am really excited to see how he progresses. Helps that he signed a contract and is going pro. Has Colton Parayko upside.

I think Mackey will be a FT NHLer this season and be a positive impact.

Now that Mackey is likely to go this round I need to consider my next selection. Looking closely at Kinvall vs. Kuznetsov. Anyone have a good argument for one over the other?

Doing these draft rankings is great. The only crap part is getting excited about the prospects with no Young Stars Tournament

I was excited when they mentioned it was going back to Pentiction, made for a great little trip. At least a bunch of the kids should be good to go next year.

I think Heineman is a sleeper (not in small part because he wasn’t drafted by the Flames).

I had Kuznetsov in the last round. These things are just summer diversions and I tend to jump around a bit.... usually going against the prevailing wind.
I kind of just go with the prospects I think could surprise the most.

Plus don't you kind of root for the guy in a strange "we win the trade" sense?
Especially in the case of Heineman because he's flesh and blood, and not a pick that Calgary makes that Florida would have likely made differently.
But either way ... kind of boosts my hope up for
Heineman

I'd be extremely hesitant to vote Ruzicka before Phillips considering how much of the former's offensive output is dependent on the latter.

Kinnvall is 24 and has no North American experience. He's a little undersized and at this point like is what he is. Kuznetsov is a big 19 year old who has already cut his teeth in North America and the NHL sized rink. He's got a few pro games under his belt at that ripe old age of 19. Plays a brand that fits with the coach and the identity he's trying to instill in the team. May not be a big scorer, but has potential to be a more important player for the team because of the qualities the coach likes IMO. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kinnvall end up being like Lydman and Kuznetsov being more like Regher. I like the potential of having another Reg!
