You know, people forget this, but there was a period when Sid was 23-24 where he missed nearly a full year with a misdiagnosed neck injury that everyone thought was a concussion.
Trading for Sid with a clear overpayment when it wasn’t clear if he’d ever play or be the same again.
Would’ve been the right move.
From the GM’s perspective, if it doesn’t work, he was getting fired anyway, and if it does, he’s got another few years of security.
No reason from Brad’s perspective not to do it.
From Murray’s point of view, this type of player at the top of your roster can win you rounds in the playoffs, sells jerseys, and brings positive media attention to your team.
No reason for him to not do it either.
And you know, Never mind a championship - I’m not so greedy as to expect that.
But trips to the 2nd round, 3rd round once every ten years or so, that’s not too much to ask.
Just be good enough that you’re not the obvious loser in every first round series you engage in, even when you’re the higher seed.
