Send Tuch and Smith back as part of the package and that covers Eichels salary. Add in Peyton Krebs, Luke Cormier and next years 1st...i think you have everything you need.
The one piece Vegas doesnt have is that upper echelon/elite C....and look what they have done without one.

Personally I would say 5M in space is worth a first. So equivalent to a first, two B prospects (Gawdin and Phillips) for Marchessault and a B prospect (Dugan). There really arn't a lot of teams that could eat that cap. Seattle didn't do too many favours.
|
Gawdin and Phillips are not B prospects. These guys are tweeners that are at the point of needing one way deals and have no waiver protection. They’re close to washing out as prospects so have no value to a team looking to dump salary. They would much rather just take draft picks and move on. They have much better players who could step in and take a slot if pressed.

At least he wouldn’t have to worry about getting knocked out by Ritchie anymore.

Not sure if it's discussed here, but Hjalmarsson is retiring. I thought he could've been a great option at replacing Gio. Hope he enjoys his retirement.

Per source, Coyotes UFA D Niklas Hjalmarsson is retiring. I don't expect a formal announcement or statement from Nik. Those who have covered him or known him know that is not his style. He was an integral part of 3 Stanley Cups in Chicago and the consummate pro on/off the ice.

OK, I was fully on the Suter train, but 4 years is too long unless he dollar amount is a steal.

Yeah, I would actually give Suter 4 years as I think he ages fine - but the annual has to be fairly low.

GM Don Waddell reiterated Sunday in an interview with me that he’s not giving up on re-signing Hamilton.
“We’ve had conversations with (Hamilton’s agent) J.P. Barry about Dougie,” said Waddell. “He has said all along, ‘Let’s get through the draft.’ We’re going to talk more today about where this is going, where this is headed. He has a pretty good idea about what the market is at this point. So, our goal still is to bring Dougie back. Again, we’re not trying to save money, we’re a cap team; we want to put the best team on the ice that we can. So the AAV is important to us.”

Plus, the Kraken plan to be players once free agency opens Wednesday, perhaps more so than Vegas was on July 1, 2017, when the Golden Knights were rather quiet (other than signing the likes of Brad Hunt, Stefan Matteau and Maxime Lagace).
“Things were different this time around and that is part of why we did what we did,” Kraken GM Ron Francis said Sunday via text message. “And yes, we will be like 31 other teams in that we will be hoping to be a part of things on Wednesday.”
In the bigger picture, don’t judge Seattle on its expansion approach just yet, we’ll get a better idea of it by puck drop in October. Perhaps even as late as a year from now their strategy will still be paying off in the flat cap environment.

The Flyers GM didn’t quite know what changes yet. He needed to decompress a little after a disappointing season before forming a plan with a clear mind.
Changes came all right.
Gone are Philippe Myers, Nolan Patrick, Shayne Gostisbehere, Robert Hagg and Jakub Voracek.
In are Ryan Ellis, Rasmus Ristolainen and Cam Atkinson.
“We made four trades in eight days, got through the expansion draft and the entry draft, there’s been a lot of activity,” Fletcher told me Sunday, seemingly catching his breath. “We weren’t just looking to make change for the sake of making change, we wanted to certainly change the energy and the leadership in our dressing room.
It was a steep price to pay on Ristolainen, our Flyers beat writer Charlie O’Connor doing a deep dive on that trade over the weekend.
But what I will tell you is that there were at least two other teams I’ve confirmed as being willing to move a first-round pick plus another asset as part of a Ristolainen deal, and other teams were also making offers, so that drove up the price on the Flyers.

Bill Zito, it turns out, had been dialled in on Sam Reinhart for a while.
“Well it was a guy we had targeted for some time,” the Panthers GM told me Sunday. “Obviously when you have your pro meetings, you look around the league at guys that might be available, and because of his versatility and not just versatility but his excellence with that versatility — he’s an excellent right wing, he’s an excellent centre — we thought he could contribute to our lineup and be the type of player that will fit with our players and for our coaches.
“That was the fit that we sought. When he became available, those are the type of players we have to go out and get our hands on,” added Zito.

If there’s any defenseman I’d give the four years to, it’s Suter. No matter what, he’s going to be a top-6 D for you.

He’s not a bad value at $5m a year.
