Big right hander who hits and blocks shots. Sounds like the kind of player this team needs more of. If it's for the Oilers third then even better.

Pitlick strikes me as a Garnett Hathaway type. Not a bad pickup if that's the case.

Pitlick is actually a decent defensive forward and he played tough minutes last year for Arizona.

Hopefully it’s for a 4th

I'd love it if it's for a 4th or later but if it's for a 3rd there better be a lot of salary retention

Hopefully it's a 5th. He's essentially Ryan's replacement for just over half the cap hit (I think)...

If it's a 5th round pick, I'm content with it. I dislike the move if it's a 4th round pick, and hate the move if it's a 3rd round pick.

You know what, if he fits in Sutter’s system well I don’t see us complaining too much.

If it's a 5th, greatest trade ever. 4th, acceptable but borderline. 3rd, worst trade in NHL history.

It's fine if it's a 4th rounder...
Do we even have a 4th rounder?
Why are we even dealing with Seattle after what they did yesterday! I'm half kidding.

The difference between a third and fourth round pick is not "a lot of salary retention".

I expect it will be for a third.

The difference between a 3rd rd pick and a 4th is pretty minimal.

Really doubt Seattle is retaining anything.

No.

Its likely for the 3rd we got from the Oilers.

Have to see what the pick is. If it's higher than a 5th, its a waste of a pick. There is a reason why Pitlick has been around the league more than COVID in a Florida retirement community, he's not a very good hockey player.

Another thing to consider is that Pitlick was the top PK forward (along with Dvorak) on a pretty good Arizona PK unit.

Do you think a 3rd round pick for Pitlick is good value?

Great. Do we get their PK coaches to go with Pitlick? Different systems usually generate different results. The more I think about this move the more I dislike it.

For a playoff team/contender, absolutely....Not for a below avg team like the flames.

For a mid-rounder, good pickup.

Its not outrageous.

The chances that pick becomes an NHL player as good or better are less than 50% i would think.
