Lol I love Michael Stone. His board staple is a combination of like 3 minor penalties and 1 match penalty that all cancel each other out yet leave all the pain and suffering for his opponent.

Feel free to re-read the thread when he was signed or articles when he was signed. I don’t think there was a single person who thought that deal was a win. Most of the comments were it was 2 years too long and that Tanev was on the decline.
I guess you are right people see what they want to see.

How was he miss used? He was brutal when playing the top 4. Then there was younger guys in the line up that kept him as a 7th. He did look better last year in the 3rd pairing, I'll give him that.

I think Tanev was rated as one of the worst signings at the time especially in light of Brodie walking to go to Toronto. I am too lazy to look back but I am guessing the general response in the thread would be at least 75% negative comments.

You're talking to a guy who was in favour of the deal almost immediately. I remember, because I had a couple big disagreements with ER about Tanev last offseason. (Right now, he's looking like he was in the right.)

Most of me thinks they should keep Hanifin-Andersson together and hope they can pair for the next decade. Leaving Tanev to help groom Valimaki, and Stone with Mackey/Kylington. Short-term pain for long-term gain.
Then again, I can see the benefit of an Edler or Martinez. I don't like squeezing out Mackey and Kylington, but injuries are inevitable.
Hanifin-Tanev
Edler-Andersson
Valimaki-Stone
Mackey-Kylington

Apparently deal with Rangers is for Ryan Strome with salary retained on Giordano.
Sabres also in on Strome

I'm not sure I would have wanted to retained Salary on Gio to acquire Ryan Strome.
That feels like a big win for the Rangers to me.
Strome is 63% GF and 54% xGF when playing with Panarin.
Strome is 46% GF and 48% xGF when not playing with Panarin.
Smart of New York to pump him up by playing him with one of the top 5 wingers in the game, and then sell high on him.

Watching Strome he seems like a guy who benefits from line mates as far as point production, he doesn't drive the play. Fancy stats seem to support that.
Big win for the Rags if they can pull this off, gives them some leadership and of course just outright strengthens their D.

Calgary would have had to expose a forward to take Strome, needless to say.

If the Flames couldn't beat that offer for Eichel, our assets are worse than we thought.
Strome is no better than Monahan and the 2nd overall in weak draft where the 12th overall pick could very well turn out better.

With all the rumours that Buffalo covets William Eklund, that 2nd overall pick is worth a lot more than our 12th. I think Seattle will regret not taking Bean, as I think he could've been a solid piece to add into this sort of deal.

Gotta get used to this "Giordano isn't a Flame" thing.
I see in the title that Strome is possible the return and I thought. "Oh, I wouldn't mind Strome on the team".... oh, wait. We're not getting anything in the trade.

6.75M is more valuable than Gio at his age or Strome for that matter

Strome is okay but he's no Ryan Spooner...

I assume the trade will be Strome and Panarin for Gio.
