Celebrated Square Root Day
|
Last week tipsy and loose, 7 drinks with a really good buddy = 84, lowest of the season. This morning alert, rested and focused equals 95-100 if I didn't stop keeping score.
Golf is so weird.

Thanks to the posts about Arccos, I realized that my Cobra driver and wood entitles me to get free sensors for the rests of my clubs and a free 90-day subscription trial. The sensor on my Driver is dead, but my Wood is still working.
I signed up, and I'll try it out for 90 days to see how it is.

My wife was checking it out and you have to keep your phone in your front pocket? That’s a deal breaker, as if the $120/yr wasn’t already too much for me. It’s a good idea, but it’s not quite there yet I guess.
(You could buy the link and not have the phone issue)

What? How could you possibly comfortably swing a golf club with the size of phones today, sitting in shorts in front of you? I can't have it in my back pocket.

yeah, I have reservations about the phone in pocket thing. But it's a free trial and free sensors, so I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.

I play my whole round with the phone in back pocket like a wallet. Never notice it.

Had a late tee time yesterday afternoon after we got home from camping, got plugged in amongst a bunch of Twilighters. Had to quit after 9. The pace was atrocious. Called the pro shop after hole 4. Apparently there was a group of 6 who wanted to play all together but couldn't so they decided to hold everyone up while they chatted and drank as they reconvened the entire group at each tee box after every hole.... By 5 they were three holes behind. Go find a prairie course in the country if you want to play like that.

LOL. I got vibed by the blue hairs out at Cottonwood because we were the first group out, and were playing a 3.25-3.5 hr pace over 18 holes last Friday. There would be fisticuffs if we played a 5 hour pace.
I hate slow play, but being pressured to play at that blistering pace is just as bad. You can't line up putts, you can't discuss shot strategy, and god forbid you need a bathroom break or lose a ball and need to search a little.

Arccos is pretty good about replacing sensors. They have a 2yr warranty. Email them and they'll send you a new one for your grip. The grip sensor can be removed.
It's a SaaS model, so they want people signed up.
As for the phone in the front pocket. I was apprehensive at first too, but it's pretty easy to get used too.

Wildstone, similar story, but unnecessarily difficult greens, in my opinion.
Last round was St. Eugene - it was awful - the course conditions are the worst I think I've ever seen, let alone for a $80+ round. Fairways are dead with clumps of green 'grass' scattered throughout. You can hit a fairway and have a terrible lie because your ball sat in a dead patch with a hard clump of grass right behind it.
All in all, a good three days of golf - was nice to play out there.

No. Currently in BC.
Shot 86 at grey wolf today. What a fantastic course. Got eagle ranch tomorrow. Not a drop of rain yet this week which is awesome.

Nice to know the pro shop was aware of the issue and ready to do something about it.....

This was the problem with the shorter tee times and sending out twosomes. You'd end up with a bunch of bros who decided to join up to make a foursome. Next thing you know, there is now a foursome losing touch with the twosome in front of them, backing up twosomes behind them.

Scoring Winger

Got a surprise call to play Banff Springs yesterday. Weather managed to hold off nicely for us. Always such a treat playing that course... absolutely love the nostalgia element tied to that course.
Greens were definitely not the best but I assume that’s normal for this early in the season.

Very nice score!! pretty impressive for GW. Eagle ranch is quite a treat as well. There's a pretty cool signature Canyon par 3.
Have fun.

What's a good Kelowna course for high handicappers?
Something we'll maintained but not unnecessary punishing.

Its tough on the pro shop though too. I mean they only wanna get told off and sworn at so much. And once you piss off a dis respectful group like things can easily get worse. It's a no win situation, hopefully us quitting early freed up the course a bit. Just a note to self though, do not book amongst the Sunday afternoon twilighters.
