Benny is a great quenville player in the mold of bolland, Shaw, etc.
But truly looking like a more skilled Bryan Bickell which is a very good thing for the panthers

I don't know about the last 7 games, but the combination of Barkov, Huberdeau, and Bennett have 10 points tonight alone.
Edit: nevermind...Huberdeau gets another point after being tripped up on a clear path to an empty net. Automatic goal. That's his 5th ####ing point of the night. Holy ####.

Here to eat crow. Bennett has found his groove in Florida. A big part of that groove is getting the puck to Huberdeau and Barkov, but he has been very efficient in doing that. Give him props. He's adapted and become a player that can contribute to a winner. Still glad he's gone, but happy for him finding someplace where he can contribute.

Bennett leads all forwards in TOI tonight so far and he's played 21+ minutes in 3 straight games
He's now been on the ice for 3 Panthers PP goals and made a huge play for his 3rd assist of the game

Benny is clearly playing with a lot of confidence, which is great to see.
He still tries a couple toedrags / dekes each game, and seems to be about 50% with them. He's found a great fit in terms of linemates. Most of his points are "simple" hockey plays where he wins a battle and gives the puck to a teammate in a good position which leads to a goal, as if that's somehow a negative attribute. When he's out with Huberdeau and Duclair primarily you can see why that leads to some offense.
He's as physical as ever, separating opponents from the puck and getting the puck back for his team. He and the Panthers as a whole are a lot of fun to watch. It'll be interesting (and exciting) to see this season plays out for him.

They have Bennett out for the empty netter, would that have happened in Calgary, stuff like that did nothing for his confidence! Flames sheltered him way too much!

I'm just having fun seeing how much icetime he continues to log without getting scored on. I think maybe he was on the ice for one PK goal the other day but I might have imagined that.

Meh, you aren't the only one who was wrong. I certainly didn't believe in him at all before he arrived, but he's proved me wrong.
As a Flames fan, I lose.
As a Panthers fan, I win!

I cannot believe Gulutzan, Peters, and Ward.
So awful.
Bennett was showing this under Sutter. 6 points in his final 6 games as a Flame, 8 in his 15 games under Sutter all while playing 4th line LW.
The damage bull#%^& coaches do to organizations.

I was really angry when St. Louis was traded. He was one of my favourite players, based largely on how dominant he was in Saint John (I think at one point he had a eight or nine 2+ point scoring streak). I will admit, though, before he was bought out:
(1) No team in the NHL claimed him on waivers despite a pretty affordable two-way contract
(2) He went to Ottawa's training camp the following fall and got cut
(3) He didn't light the world on fire his first season in Tampa Bay with 40 points in 78 games (0 goals, 2 assists in his first 14 games that year). Kudos to the Lightning for signing him and sticking with him, though. A small market team like Calgary really should have.

And good on you Cali. You deserve a chance to watch a winner in Florida. We'll be cheering along with you. The Panthers are just fun to watch.

I think he was on the ice for 5 goals for tonight, 0 against
I know it's not going to stay this lopsided but it's nice to see him given a chance to be a top 6 player

Makes me a bit frustrated to see Florida zero in on his skills so quickly while the Flames kept putting him on the 3rd 4th line with scrubs. I hope this is a lesson for the Flames next time they draft a high end center!

People come into a thread they aren't interested in and keep saying "stop talking about this" or "who cares?" or "I'm not convinced" or "he'll regress!!!" but guess what people care about even less than the performance of Sam Bennett on the Florida Panthers? The individual opinions of some randoms on the internet. Don't like the thread? Don't care about Sam Bennett? Ready to "move on"? Then do it, don't enter, find a hobby, go for a walk. Most of us somehow manage not to click on threads we don't care about, this isn't difficult.
I'm enjoying following this thread and cheering Bennett on, and I'm glad others do as well. I guarantee nobody cares if Bennett's performance convinces you. People are just enjoying the show.
Of course, even the naysayers and doubters are welcome. Have at it. Post your hearts out. But nobody cares but you, and if you're one of the few that's beyond doubting and into the "omg stop talking about Bennett!" folks, honestly just take your own advice because it's looking sad at this point. People aren't going to stop because you want them to, because you're boring and watching Bennett right now is exciting. You're going to lose that battle every single time. But good luck I guess.
Another great game by Bennett! Super happy he's doing well. Tells you something when the most exciting story regarding a player who put on a Flames jersey this season is the guy they traded.
