It’s perfect. 7 straight days of hard negotiations.
This is Tree’s time to shine. Get some good work done.

Extremely excited and anxious to see what he does, but I think the real stuff happens in the off-season. The axe is hanging precariously....

We're prepared. It'll be like 8 less nights of hockey than we've had the previous 6 years.

It is not just that. It is year after year of watching the team get their heads caved in, and of playing out the string before the end of January. It will be very much like what we are living through now, but with a few more young players in the mix.

Darryl for sure did it back then. He also would name a player on the other team and ask a particular player on his team to be better than that guy.

We’d at least watch and live with the hope of watching players develop.
With this team, what you see is what you get and what you’re going to get.
Blow this #### up.

You left out the part where pretty much all the good stuff happened in the first 10 years, and most of the "readers" here don't even remember it...

Yeah. By contrast in the last 30 years they have made the playoffs 14 times. Made it out of the first round twice and won the conference once. Won the division (regular season) 4 times.

I think the current group isnt hearing the correct names Darryl wants and thinks it's okay to play better than the Chaissons and Kassians of the world and be content with it

I guess Darryl's "unfinished business" will remain unfinished. It's pretty rare for a coach to survive a multi-season rebuild.

True. He would have told Lindholm and Monahan to be better tha Matthews and Tavares. That didn’t happen. He would have told Gaudreau to be better than Marner - that didn’t happen. Rittich wasn’t better than Hutchinson. And down the line. Hell, Tanev wasn’t even better than Brodie as a defensive D (normally he is the best at that every night).

I'm confused, you're warning against a rebuild yet appear to be making a perfect argument as to why we should start. Not to mention "a few young players mixed in" is a pretty dismissive way of describing loading up on picks and prospects and watching them develop.
I mean it's pretty much the start of the process for any team that you've seen win the Cup in the last decade.

I am surprised it was that confusing. A rebuild needs to happen, sooner than later. Whenever it does begin it is going to be long, arduous, and I am sceptical that every fan will continue to be as excited about it in year four, five, or six as they are in year one.
I quite enjoy watching players develop, but it is way more enjoyable when they are winning.

Was out at the cabin for the weekend so missed both games. Came back yesterday and watched the Oil and Leafs game this morning. Gag. Not enough booze in the coffee to watch this team get leads, play decently... then wilt like pathetic wall flowers.
Season is done.

Here's the wildly optomistic take:
The Flames decided to play hard and prove to themselves they can beat the Leafs over two periods, then threw the rest of the game to maintain the tank. Hanifin was especially good at acting mad when he purposely scored on his own goal to cap it.
