Tkachuk really has Treliving over a barrel. What do you do at qualifying time when your guy is playing like a 5/6 million dollar guy but needs 9 million to qualify. Masterful negotiating by Tkachuk who is likely calling all the shots if he wants to. Epic fail on Trelivings part in my opinion but time will tell.

Is there a player in the league that doesn't go through ups and downs? Hard to call it a fail when you're only half way through the deal.

Have to work something out with Ottawa I think. If they will go for it. Id bet the farm he wont suddenly start looking like a 9 mill player by that point. Course Ottawa dont pay their stars so they may not want him either.

All players do but when he signed that bridge deal we always knew that a difficult decision would be coming at the end of the contract to which we are one year away. He's a good player but has he demonstrated in his time with the Flames that he's a guy you want to sign for 7-8 years at $8+ million? I would have a difficult time as a GM tabling that offer to him especially based on how this season has gone but fortunately the team has one more year to access the player and listen to any trade offers that other teams may put forth.

Yes, Lindholm and Tkachuk isn't working. Pretty clear to see that.

I think that was the declining moment for Chucky . Now, if that commercial would've had him feasting over a massive cheese pizza, that would've been a great commercial - Giuseppe Chucky Cheeze Deluxe!

Y'know I think it's pretty weird that we're looking for a big bodied winger who can crash and bang, is reasonably responsible defensively, and has mitts for Johnny and Mony's line. We've been looking for this player for a long time. We are so damn fixated that they have to be Right handed... Why the hell aren't we trying Tkachuk-Monahan-Johnny for at least a few games? We only ever play these guys together on the PP. at this point what do we have to lose? Johnny played RW on numerous occasions in international play. Tkachuk should be able to play RW too. Tkachuk is exactly the type of player that we are looking for if he pulls his head out of his ass- all this while it's clear his style isn't meshing with Lindy.
Tkachuk-Monahan-Gaudreau
Dube-Lindholm-Mangiapane (Or phillips here if we are really feeling bold.)

They seem to like their pairs and maybe they figure teams can game plan around a stacked line. Wouldn't hurt to try it though.

I don't recall this being said. So I just went back to look for it, and was still unable to find it. I am fairly sure that Sutter never said this. At least, he didn't say it in his opening press conference.

I listened to that preconference and I don't recall that being said. Do Edwards and Sutter have a relationship? yes. Is it conceivable that they spoke prior to Sutter being hired as part of the discussions? Yes, I would think so, I'm sure Edwards was aware of what was happening. Did Edwards take the hiring process out of Treliving's hands and hire Sutter? I have a hard time believing that and for what it's worth Freidman did say just that on his hit with 960 the day after it happened.
But if it is said enough times on CP, then I can see how some might want to believe that is the truth, even if there has been no legitimate source that has stated this as a fact.

23 year old forwards with a career PPG of .8 are not in decline while scoring at *checks notes* 0.8 PPG for the season.

If he were paid less and had a much lower qualifying offer I don't think it would be a big deal. The problem is him being paid on the promise of what he was expected to become while failing to become that, and his current play being both below what might be expected of the team's highest paid player and way below the value of a 9M contract that's on the horizon.
