But fantastic seeing the flames stick up for each other. And i think that everybody in the division will see that knockout on slow mo tonight and think twice before running around against the flames and targeting their smaller players with cheapshots. Ritchie has really been a great add for the flames.

Honestly those comments should carry a lifetime ban.

It’s racist...plain and simple.

This stupid place that we’re at where refs “manage” games rather than call the rule book keeps the conversation of fighting being “needed” because otherwise you get hits like that Khaira hit that go uncalled.

Just call the damn rule book, and make fighting an instant five game suspension.
I think the ref near the hit honestly missed it. If you track his eyes he's looking the wrong way.
But that's why head shots should be able to be called by an off-ice official. Need to treat it with that level of seriousness.

I don't get it. Just get rid of it already.
It's treated as "shocking" by a section of fans for various reasons. But fully accepted and a treated risk of engaging in a fight by other sections of fans.

And that's hardly a reason to get rid of it.

Khaira with a cheap cheap hit which he answered for in a fight right away. Good for him Having the ability to fight keep some of that cheapness out of the game.

Ignoring racism isn't the answer.

Just let them fight and what happens happens. Wouldn't have to fight if he didn't hit him square in the head.

Come on, no one liked the hit, and he "answered the bell" for it, and paid the price. It's a pretty big stretch that he was out to injure kylington though.

If you want a well called game I’d go like Rugby - official in the stands with a line to the on ice ref. Can call penalties or ask him to issue warnings, etc.

Yeah, it’s easy to call when we have the benefit of slow motion replays.

I can see how it was missed in real time.

I’d actually be ok if they got rid of fighting - but only if they do a far better job at policing crap hits like the one khaira threw.
That's the conundrum of fighting in hockey. You ban it and dirty, dangerous plays happen if the refs aren't on the ball. And those plays can happen to the stars without retribution. I still think fighting keeps the games in check in a way.

I agree that the majority of posts expressed concern for Khaira, though I don't think it was nearly as high as 9/10. In any event, I guess my expectation is that it should be 10/10.

This is absolutely the answer.

If a headshot like that goes uncalled, because of how serious brain trauma is, have a ref in the sky make the call. It’s what is best for the players, which is what is best for the game.
