I've been following all politics in Canada and USA religiously for the last 20 years and I could do pages of why I'm happy but this is the only and best response.
#restinpiss you ####!

Can you elaborate? I did a bit of googling as he's a bit before my time but I don't see much to label him as an evil person. Controversial, sure.

For the record I don't care one iota about Limbaugh's death, I just find the response intriguing.
Wow just stop.
I don't know who Limbaugh is all the way to defending him.
Be better . You talk for the sake of talking. Your outrage is so fake.
The guy had a segment called "Aids update" making fun of gays during.

It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it ~ Upton Sinclair
It should not surprise anyone that these right wing mouthpieces are doing this mostly because it's so damn profitable, but I think over time, they begin to believe the crazy stuff because of the quote above. Nothing reinforces terrible ideas the way money can and does.

It's like the scene from The Big Short.
"You think I'm a parasite, but apparently society values what I do very much. Why don't we do this, you tell me how much you're worth, and then I'll tell you how much I'm worth?"

I think it was Olbermann that one time told a story about meeting someone like Hannity or Bill O'Reilly at an event - that person said something along the lines to Keith "isn't it great we can play these characters and make tons of money?" I don't think many of them are very sincere; it is a money-making routine.
Who said he should be remembered positively? I just don't see why people would be openly happy that another human being passed away. He had his schtick but it's not like he murdered anyone or anything. If you didn't like his radio show you simply didn't have to listen.
He had a far bigger negative impact on American society than any murderer.

I think the same of Ezra Levant. He's a pretty smart dude from what I hear, he just chooses to use those smarts in a rather distasteful way.

I think it's funny when people get offended when people don't suddenly start saying nice things when a horrible person dies.
Last week:
Me: Rush Limbaugh is a terrible human and deserves no respect for the horrible things he has said and done, the world would be better off without him.
This week:

The only difference is tense.
I knew last week he would be dead at some point, the only new information I have is when exactly that happened. Why should it change my opinion of him, or cause me to show him the respect he refused to show to so many people?

I recall that too. Pretty sure it was Hannity.
