You mean......

The talent is there but not the consistancy?

Besides it's early in the season where there was no pre season games.

I think i'll wait a bit before I plunge the knife in

People probably shouldn't write off the season, but they can fairly judge when it's the same inconsistent limpness that leads to the losses though. Why do some people just forget all the past evidence when a new season begins with mostly the same group of players.

Well the same reasoning and excusing away happens every year. Clearly even you can see that.

Talent alone isn't enough, it's never been enough, so what does it matter if all they are is talented. This isn't new, so jumping on people who are seeing the same thing happen again is dumb.

I believe in giving the team a fair chance before we doom them to the ghosts of seasons past.

Cool, do that, but your incredulity at people expressing exasperation and concern is ridiculous. Why would they not? The Flames keep proving them right year after year.

Changes were made with the addition of Markstron in goal and Tanev on defence. Dube has looked strong in the few games he's playd. We also have Valimaki back after his year lost to serious injury.

I'm sorry, but I see reasons for being hopeful about this team.

It's not ridiculous to suggest we should give this team some more games before we pass judgement. Cripes it's only 6 games in of 56 game season.

We know how this story will end. Flames claw into the playoffs and get bounced in rd 1. Tweak the roster a bit, rinse and repeat, same outcome next year.

The Flames franchise is the definition of mediocre and its so engrained into everybody within the organization that they can't even see it. Its exhausting being a Flames fan but I don't know any other way.

I would argue its not 6 games in, its 6 years in, with the same core and key players you are depending on to take you to the next level.

The team finally addressing that need is an odd thing to criticize.
In fact you yourself has criticized him for not getting a proper number 1.
A few teams were able to figure out how to pull off a major deal this off season including one last week.

I don't see market dynamics changing too much in next couple of years with a flat cap and Flames having no significant money coming off the books.

This past off season might have been an opportune time to stockpile picks in a deep draft, make due with a bargain UFA or two in a depressed market and then pulling the trigger at the deadline if you thought you were anywhere close to a contender. But from what we heard, Treliving wasn't looking to move any of the big name forwards unless they were blown away by an offer.

I don't believe a deal is going to get any easier. The team is essentially managed as if they came off a SC win in last couple of years and they want to give the core one more chance to get it done. It's weird. I do kind of admire the loyalty though since for the most part I like these players and want to see them win.

Yeah but Markstrom and Tanev are key players we didn't have last year.

And I like the editions. Real solid players that will make a difference. BUT when you have to rely on Monahan as your #1 C and Gaudreau and your best forward, it won't really matter.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Monahan is NOT a #1 centre that you can count on in crunch time.

Rough patch of games? How many seasons are in a patch? We had one good season in recent years and subsequently bombed in the playoffs like every other year. This is my point. Seriously? A rough patch? Dude I’ve stuck it out with this team for decades as previously mentioned and we had some really crappy teams at times. None I can recall with zero pride or heart, until this core. How long will you make excuses for these guys?

Naturally I want to be proven wrong but I never am.

It's really not that hard to just start cheering for some other team. Just be a fan of good hockey and cheer for whoever is playing the best. Nothing wrong with that. Players come from all over, and teams are just companies. No need to feel beholden to one team. Loyalty that's so loosely founded can be overcome pretty easily.

I guess that depends on your personality. I wouldn't judge anybody who took that path. For somebody who has been in it for 30+ years and stuck it out during the young gun era, I'm at point of no return.

Hopefully one day before I go I can witness this team go a stretch where they are elite and the upper class of the league.
