If they loved the jets offer, the deal would be done by now. I don't think they make a deal there because I don't think Jarmo likes Laine, I remember reading Laine wants to go to California and I think they want a decent C as part of the return.

Eh?

I am indifferent to trading for PLD. At the end of the day he's a fine 1st line center who is not in his prime yet.
However all I wanted to say is that this would all be a different story if Columbus took Puljujarvi 3rd. Sucks PLD wants to leave, but this could be waaaaay worse for the BJ's.

No he couldn’t.
Laine went 2nd and Dubois went 3rd - it was Puljujarvi he could have drafted but didn’t.
He’s probably holding out because he’d prefer a Center and is doing his due diligence to see if anybody else panics and ups their offer at the last minute.

Meaning: Johnny decides if Monahan is traded, he won’t re-sign here, and we don’t trade him pre-UFA so lose him for nothing. Is trading Monahan for Dubois still a good deal?
Please no: “if that causes Johnny to leave we don’t want him anyway” responses.
This is a legit question.
I actually think it’s fairly obvious and this will not be popular but there is about a zero percent chance Johnny Gaudreau re-signs in Calgary. Like. None. And there’s a lot of reasons that lead me to that and I don’t feel like it’s a Nostradamus opinion. He’s gone at the end of this contract and there’s no question about it.

Ya, wow its been a long and terrible week. Could use some good news here...I think thats why I'm confusing things lol. If I believe it enough, maybe it'll come true.

We shall see where this goes, the #Flames GM Brad Treliving is all in as he often is when big names players like this come available, we believe the Flames are right there tonight/this morning. Tomorrow will be a very interesting day. #CBJ# #CofRed#
Haha

#### these athletes with no contractual leverage trying to hand pick a destination.
Laine is the best pure goal scorer since Ovechkin. He’s worth so much more than Pierre Luc Dubois, but if that’s the best player you can get from the worst possible destination, pull that trigger, Chevy.

Quite the hot take haha I appreciate Valimaki as much as the next guy and he looks poised to do well but we are still waiting to see if his game can translate to be a quality 3-4 Dman let alone a 60+ pt first line center so far. Maybe one day this will be the case which I would be stoked if he became that high-end of a D and could hold the #1 spot for the next 12 yrs
The Laine Dubois swap kinda makes sense. Both highly talented (seemingly) primadonnas.
Is it bad to say I hate the breed of NHL player that exists today? My god. Crazy selfishness seems rampant.
No, you're not the only one. Loyalty actually meant something back then. In a lot of major spots, you are seeing stars whine when things don't go their way.

Agreed. I also don't want us to be the team giving him that second big contract because I predict it will look awful relatively shortly into it.

If they weren’t moving him for Stone, they aren’t moving him + + for a guy who would immediately be the 3rd best centre on the roster.
You mean they wouldn't move him + a first for a 26 year old Right Winger who was about to be a UFA and was going to command 10 million per season to stay.
Valimaki has some added value due to being expansion draft exempt. But to think he on his own straight up is not worth a top 3 pick from the draft the previous year with how little he's done in the NHL does not add up.

I don't see the Flames getting him with Lindholm looking good at center, but I also never thought that Jacob Markstrom would be signing here either. So hey let's see what happens.
