Sorry, but isn’t that the definition of news? It’s new information people should be aware of. BREAKING NEWS seems to have come along around the same time as FAKE NEWS. Hopefully both can die.
|
CNN had been on the "breaking news" bandwagon long before "fake news" came along. Jon Stewart use to make fun of them for it in the late 90's/early 2000's.

PGA is punting him.

The PGA of America will strip Donald Trump of the 2022 PGA Championship, which is scheduled to be held at Trump National Bedminster golf club in New Jersey.
In a blistering column that says the golf world must sever all ties with Trump, Golfweek’s Eamon Lynch said the PGA has been debating for two years the need to move the major championship and, once Trump is out of office, will announce the tournament will be played elsewhere:
Quote:
“The odds that ’22′s PGA Championship will happen as scheduled in New Jersey are about as good as the chances of you or I winning it. Seth Waugh, the PGA of America’s CEO, was a banker and has an alert eye for high-risk exposure. He knows that Trumpism is likely to be an equally incendiary force in the ’22 midterm elections and that any affiliation is poisonous. Waugh will be forced to move the event and face down a small but vocal faction of his membership who remain true believers. Moving its major from Trump National has been debated internally at the PGA for more than two years, but executives have been reluctant to antagonize a famously vindictive man who controls the Internal Revenue Service. Such concerns melt away in 10 days, if not sooner.”
|
Lynch, like Washington Post columnist Barry Svrluga, says professional golf -- including some of its biggest celebrities, like Tiger Woods, Nancy Lopez, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Annika Sorenstam -- has angered many fans by cozying up to Trump. But, Lynch says, “the events of January 6 that left five people dead ought to make him a pariah everywhere. Including in golf.”
He adds:
Quote:
“Reputations too have been left bruised in the eyes of many golf fans. Like those of Jack Nicklaus and Nancy Lopez, both of whom have long been celebrated for their character and rectitude. Both supported Trump in the waning days of the election campaign, despite clear signs he would not accept any result he didn’t like. ...
“Arguably even more sullied are the reputations of Gary Player and Annika Sorenstam, who attended the White House to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom from the man who just one day earlier had incited the mob that killed a police officer.”
|
In the end, Lynch says, golf will be seen as the elitist game Trump played while the country burned:
Quote:
“The game will instead be portrayed as Trump’s refuge, something he did while ignoring a pandemic that has claimed 365,000 lives, refusing to acknowledge a resounding electoral defeat, and inciting feeble-minded fascists to violence that left five people dead at the opposite end of Pennsylvania Avenue.”

Screw the “lifetime ban.” His kids shouldn’t be able to profit either even after Donald is dead.

Yes. I don't care who wants to fingerwag me for this, but I want him and his family to be world pariahs. I want it all stripped from him/them. I want financial ruin for them all. I want "to the pain" to be his/theirs to bear.

I suspect they will be, lets be honest his own party hates him, the fat numpties in the trailor parks might think he's a God but the likes of Cruz and Graham will happily torch him if there aren't any political repercussions and once Trump's support is pared down to the utter crazies they just arent enough to give him power

The only person who I’d exempt from this though is Barron. I sincerely doubt he has any involvement in this entire mess and he shouldn’t be punished for having a bad father (and possibly an enabling mother).

I agree. I want him out of the GOP entirely and without any political clout what so ever.

Those who are politically ambitious (Cruz and Hawley, I don't think Graham aspires to more than his current office) will want others to push Trump out while they defend him. They'd love nothing more than Trump getting impeached, convicted and blocked from future runs from office, while they vocally defend Trump, so they can position themselves as the rightful heir to Trump's supporters.

Same effect, but simpler than adding a line to tax returns, and reminding people to claim it.
|
That would only cause people to pay slightly more tax on $3000 of income.
If you make every dollar of the covid relief cheque count as, say, $2.50 of taxable income, it would cause someone with a 40% effective tax rate to pay back the entire $2000. Someone with a tax rate above 40% would actually pay more than $2000 back into the system as a result of the adjustment (which is perfectly ok, considering there are folks who profited off the pandemic).

All of this is amazing. The capitalist world is uniting to revoke Trump and his people's privileges. Such an unexpected yet effective way for the world to take a stand against lies, misinformation and reckless behavior. One they probably never saw coming. And it is going to suck for Trump and all his cronies, badly.
Time to sit in the corner and reflect on your decisions and whether it was all worth it. For many of them I'm sure they will find remorse, as the country moves on, returns to normalcy, and the irrational fear of Biden's administration dissipates ad he brings stability back to the white house and government institutions.
Never follow the crazy narcissist down the rabbit hole, they'll just cut your throat and leave you out to dry when it comes down to preserving their livelihood.

Request to the national card players association to change the following definition to a ‘Biden’: “a playing card of the suit chosen to rank above the others, which can win a trick where a card of a different suit has been led.“
Edit: better yet, ‘Obama’.

Biden says he seriously considered Bernie Sanders for labor secretary, but couldn't risk Senate control
https://www.businessinsider.com/bide...rol-2021-1?amp
Quote:
"I did give serious consideration on nominating my friend Bernie Sanders to this position," Biden told reporters in Wilmington, Delaware. "I'm confident he could have done a fantastic job. I can think of no more passionate, devoted ally to working people in this country."
He added: "But after Tuesday's results in Georgia, giving Democratic control to the United States Senate and a tie vote, Bernie and I agreed — and as a matter of fact Bernie said — we can't put control of the Senate at risk on the outcome of a special election in Vermont."

The “conspiracy theorist” folks are going berserk right now linking Pakistan outage, to Vatican, to Biden, to Trump, the electoral turn over, to major political person arrests, to even celebrity arrests, to communication/free speech shutdown, to communism, and socialism. It’s tough to hear it all from various sides of friends and family. No matter what it’s not an easy conversation or environment.
So gotta ask myself:
WHERE DOES THE TRUTH LIE?

Omg Nancy Pelosi on 60 mins is killing me.
First she claims she refused to leave the house chamber first, against advice of the secret service, because she wanted to stay and protect democracy.
Then she very clearly faked a breakdown and “tears” claiming the desecration of the capitol hurt her personally because she’s so dedicated to this temple of democracy.
My 5 year old nephew is a better actor. It was so fake it was cringeworthy.
