No, it's the right post. I was saying it was amazing how many people forget that Monahan accomplished those numbers prior to Gaudreau playing an NHL game.

I really do like the trickle down effect on the lineup that comes with bringing in Hall and hanging on to Gaudreau for a look this season.

At the very least you can probably bank on a pretty nice rebound for Gaudreau's trade value.

Maybe you have fewer trade options then, but you're probably recouping a more wholesome package than you are now after that abysmal year and playoff.

Not really true until his final, final TDL. More often it's acquiring GMs that become irrational and blow their brains out thinking it will put them over the top, or that if they don't, their closest rival will.

Not sure I agree...would be pure rental value before the July 1 equivalent for most teams...would make more sense for them to wait until that date has passed so they can be certain they are on his list of 5.

I don't think any team is aquiring anyone's rights tomorrow. Having one night to complete a deal with a player isn't the hard part, it's the fact that the player is in a mental state of waiting an extra day to see what's out there. Unless the team is willing to show a deal that's way higher than the expected value for testing the open market, I don't think it's advisable to do at this point. I'm sure BT is holding one of the thirds just in case, but I don't think Hall or anyone big who has their rights dealt tomorrow, signs for that team as they're more than willing to test the open market a day later. In this market nobody is going to crazy overpay anyway, so save your pick Brad.

I always wonder if there's any value in a team acquiring a players rights as a way to show the player how serious they are about having them on the team.
It shows initiative and a willingness to make a sacrifice (acquisition cost) for the player. Kind of an act of good faith.

Friedman update:

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/video/l...arsson-traded/

Calgary was swirling around Anderson too but Habs were able to close the deal

Laine trade is complicated because of what teams need to give up to acquire him and then what kind of contract you would need to sign him to

OEL turned down St. Louis as well as Calgary and Edmonton and is just sticking to his two choices of Boston and Vancouver
As of this afternoon Friedman has heard Boston unlikely to land him...
Vancouver is the more likely destination

Treliving has been working hard
Thinks they had a interest in Josh Anderson and tried to close a deal before Habs got him
Basically every goaltender you can name he has checked on them
Also looking at D
Could make changes up front

Everyone is expecting Lundqvist to be a Washington Capitals

Wonders if Edmonton will take a long look at Jacob Markstrom

What is there to disagree with? the value I stated is gotten regularly by top pending UFAs at the deadline. And some teams will go into a season thinking they have a chance at the playoffs and then miss, those would be the teams to take the chance on Gaudreau at that point in time.

I actually think Gaudreau will end up re-signing here.

Hmmm... what could have he been offering up for Anderson? Domi is a pretty good RFA.

Mangiapane is the comparable offer, but Treliving may well have been far below that - Janko or Kylington.
