Uhhh yeah. They better batten down the hatches. Thats the systemic part of this whole thing. They didn't technically break a law in that state. And murderers will walk free because of it.
The whole system needs a tear down and rebuild. Starting with their vaunted constitution which needs major amendments.

It's going to get ugly. Again.
I get the anger, but the people need to use that anger to motivate them to get out and vote all those who are a part of this mess out of office. You can riot and protest and whatever else but nothing will change as long as you have the wrong people leading the way.

If this motivates people to vote, the senator from Kentucky currently up for re-election, might be in trouble.

One can dream. Heck, Alabama voted Democrat, so it's possible. Imagine 2020 making amends with a Biden blowout, Democrats take back the Senate, keep the house, with Moscow Mitch and Lindsey Graham losing in disgrace... don't... don't... don't take this dream away please.

There may have been hope that the officer outside shooting "blindly" could be charged with some form of reckless discharge or whatever, but Breonna Taylor was next to her boyfriend, whatever shot her was not "reckless." And it won't be hard to find a jury that has sympathy for an officer having his partner shot at to act a bit 'reckless.'

There may still be hope for something to happen to the warrant-signing officer if the warrant was indeed obtained with knowingly false information, but I think the leaked documents will help to establish that the officer had enough evidence to believe that Ms. Taylor was reasonably involved in drug dealing and will be able to argue that the postal inspector sentence was a 'mistake' if it was indeed wrong. But in any regard, that has no bearing on the shooting officers if they did not know that the warrant was incorrect.

Really this comes down to stupid no-knock warrants being allowed for minor drug dealers because you're afraid they will flush $200 of drugs down the toilet. And of course department policies to allow those warrants to be executed at night by plain clothed officers without body cameras. Past time that no-knock warrants are changed.

Not surprising. Red deer is a cesspool, always has been. That town attracts all the worst trash from Alberta.
Ever been to that dump during the oil boom on a Fri/Sat night? It’s like a scene outta Deadwood.

And the RCMP allowed it to happen? Shocking.

Ironically you both appear to be using hate and prejudice to denounce a city for its alleged hatred and prejudices. In a thread about prejudice and systemic racism of all places.

Red Deer is what it is but pretending like it’s radically different from a lot of places in this province is a bit of a stretch. Garbage like this happens in a lot of places, heck the hate group the aryan guard is based out of Calgary. It’s incredible how quick people are to crap all over broad groups of people over pretty much anything. Might be more beneficial to try and focus a little more on the good in people and our commonalities instead of what can be used to degrade others. Just my 2 cents.

Interesting times we live in when an 'Anti-Racism' rally is ended by.... pro-racists I guess? I live in a different country than I thought...
Does anyone have a way for me to understand this differently? Are there a bunch of white dudes in Alberta who are willing to run around defending racism? And... we just... do nothing? Whaaat?

Long story short: yes. Short story a little longer, these angry people aren’t just in Alberta and it’s a very big problem.

I agree with CliffFletcher and iggy_oi. Referring to Red Deer as a cesspool or disgusting due to the actions of an intolerant minority of their population, is that really any different than when someone in Ontario refers to Alberta as "the deep south of Canada"? Neither of jayswin or Cecil would identify or be happy with that label against them - nor should they, it's completely false.
My thoughts are, lets call out the groups that are promoting intolerance, and not their city/province/country.
