When Kassian grabbed him? Instead of trying to flee? He doesn't have to fight but it's a bad look when he is constantly stirring things up but never drops the gloves.

Marchand, Kadri, Wilson those guys all play a similar style of game as Tkachuk. Chippy stuff but great players. They also are willing to fight. He turtles way too often.

When hockey players give their opinions one should always remember that they had to be forced to wear helmets and then they had to be forced to wear visors.

He wasn’t trying to flee. He was going the direction of the puck.

He’s fought about as much as Kassian over the period of time he’s been in the league.

Hockeyfights.com has him clocked at 7 fights in 4.5 seasons against some pretty big boys.

He answers the bell plenty, and typically when it's appropriate.

2 games just in time for the rematch... I think the league purposely did this to make Tkachuk answer for the hit.

He must square up with Kassian next game cause he's building quite a reputation around the league as a rat/spot picker/cheapshot artist.

he had the fans support around the league when he was feuding with Doughty, but on this one its preety one sided to team Kassian on twitter.

I hope Lucic and Rinaldo stays out of this and let Tkachuk handle it.

Two games is a joke, much like Edmonton.
Completely agree. Our caveman has to make their caveman pay and he better be ready to answer the bell. A plug should not be permitted to pummel our best player and allstar without retribution. I'll be very disappointed if Lucic doesn't step up and play his role and feed kassian his lunch. For all the talk of "honour", this should be perfectly acceptable and expected.

I think Tkachuk will fight too, but not against kassian. The german has gotten the best of Tkachuk physically in the past, it would be fun to see them square off, not that leon ever would.

League timed the suspension so he's back for that game, that's not a coincidence. They know it'll be a massive ratings boost. But they've absolutely told all players involved to keep it clean. We might see an Oilers goon challenge Tkachuk, and a Flames goon challenge Kassian, and one or both of those staged fights might happen, but other than that the game won't meet hype

No. The fact that Staples claimed to have watched a player play "15-20 times" when that player has been dead for 83 years tells you all you need to know about the relevance of David Staples.

I just really want to push the notion that David Staples be confronted with his pointless, bald-faced, idiotic lie every time he says anything from now on, in the same way that Mike Milbury should be told, "well, you say that, but then, you made the Yashin trade, so why should anyone listen to you" any time he tries to make a comment on hockey. It's the end. Game over, man. Nothing else need be considered, ever.

Our all star (who was picked one spot behind Juolevi) has to answer to their goon for making three clean hits? lol

In no way should Chucky fight that mentally, unstable, moron. Why would we risk one of our top players fighting a goon? We have Lucic, and Rinaldo, to do those things. Now if they tell Minusaitl to man up and finish what he started, I'm totally ok with that.

I will go on record right now to say that the DOPS did not tell Kassian to behave. I also believe the referees will be told to let the Oilers do whatever they want on the 29th. I have zero faith in the NHL to care about the players. All about the ratings.

He actually doesn't have to fight Kassian at all. If I'm Matty, I'm looking to blow him up a few more times, heck maybe level McDavid too for ####s and giggles. Whatever it takes to win, that's all he cares about.

Let the Oilers and their fans froth over 'the code' as they lose again while their fans post all their murder-revenge fantasies for all to see. The cavemen are really showing their true colors today.

Whether or not you think it's right that this is how things ought to work, the reality is, if he doesn't do it, there is a pretty strong possibility that at least one player is injured in that game, and it wouldn't be surprising at all if it's a flame. If he fights Kassian and just ties up the sweater and they exchange a couple of shots, they sit for five and life goes on without issue.

No he doesn't. A leading scorer top line guy shouldn't be lining up with a certified idiot and goon for hits that were clean.

Ask Kassian if he's willing to line up with Lucic, he'll say no because Kassian is a spot picking coward.

And Staples has gross emotional problems.

a random Juolevi reference out of nowhere. lol

Marchand was also an all star and has answered the bell for his antics before.

only 1 of the 3 hits here clean imo, the 1st and 3rd hits were borderline, he had no intention of playing the puck.

there is no defence for the 3rd hit, left his guy to go after Kassian in a vulnerable spot.

Yeah, this has a feeling of getting out of control. Since the league let a dirtbag cheapshot artist off with two games after an assault.

Like I said, if it comes down to toughness on the ice, the Oilers don't have much in terms of tough players that can play. I don't know if they'd be willing to trade McDavid for MT because that's the current formula.

Goes both ways, I doubt it would stop there. I suspect Lucic or Rinaldo would have something to say about an intentional injury to one of their teammates.
