I do. Even if the Flames wanted to keep Peters for some strange reason they could not because of the backlash as our society would not forgive them. In the same breath our society feels that racism in Justin's case was excusable. This is not right and if we are ever going to get rid of racism we have to drop the excuses for everyone regardless of their profession and standing.

Also of note is that Snet got it wrong again declaring that he was fired, again.
Such idiots over there.

I never said it hasn't happened.
I said I bet he is pissed at Ron Francis. I doubt it happens frequently enough for it to be common, I think it's more a case of it being swept under the rug rather than being dealt with.

Under your logic, why should Trudeau be able to hold the most 'premium' job in the country and be our leader after his racist activities? I despise the guy, but I think how that was handled is exactly how we should as a society. Allow people to apologize and learn from it.
Cherry, Peters, et al, are all just fodder to the outrage culture media circus.
|
unpopular opinion, but speaking as a person of color, Trudeau being a complete idiot and wearing brown face didn't really insult me. It just showed hes an immature idiot who probably didn't even grasp that it wasn't right and thought it was all for fun.
If Trudeau came out and called me a Pa*i or Ra*head, then I would be insulted.
The difference between the two is the intention, I feel. One is said in a very malicious direct way. The other, is the result of an immature court jester.
Both very wrong, but to me, both very different.

This is a guess on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised that among the people who vote in the federal election, that a surprising percent would feel that Peters should have keep his job.

Can I point out that the policies and actions of Justin Trudeau are decidedly not racist? The fact that he's probably one of the two or three most pro-immigration/refugees/indigenous rights leaders of the 21st century gives him a little more grace in the eyes of the public when his sin is overcommitting to dress up.

John Vanbiesbrouck came back from a worse thing in my opinion, with his run in with Trevor Daly.
I think it'll take a while, but he will make it back in some capacity. IF he wants to come back.

So if Peters in the last 10 years reformed himself and never said another racist thing again he would keep his job today? I don't think so. He's paying the price today for something he did in a different decade.

I feel bad for Brad, there is a certain level of betrayal that he probably feels. These positions are high stakes and you stick your neck out for every hire. It must be difficult watching something like this blow up so dramatically.
