This has been speculated about all summer, so it's nice to see this confirmed.
Especially when one of those rumored to be moved was his good buddy and line mate Frolik. Was noble of him to think in that capacity (keeping the team together)

It really does sound like he didn’t want to see Frolik moved to fit him in.

Frolik is an important part of this team.

Sounds like Tkachuky was working WITH the team to get a deal done rather than against. Opposition player and fans may hate this guy, but for us, how can you not love the character in this kid.

I think its a little different than some interpretations taken here in regards to roster movement and what they said in the presser.

They will not/did not sell a body in an urgent fashion to get chuckie signed. He didn't want a deal that led to sacrifice the teams depth (i.e hamstring and sell a brodie or frolik for cents on the dollar).

I thought tree made it perfectly clear that he's not done because they're never done but now they don't have to make a move out of urgency. So now when we do see a move its a value for value trade. So I still think a guy like brodie or fro can go but itll be more like the kadri or zucker deals. Not fro for a pick or brodie for a pick.

I really think theyre going to try and make room for Bennett with Backs and chucky.

Two thoughts from the press conference

-Brad "Tiny Sips" Treliving
-The tiny microphone covers with the new massive mic flags are hilarious

Or improving upon Jankowski, as Tree was doing with that Kadri trade.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Lucic - New Centre - Bennett
Mangiapane - Ryan - Rieder
Czarnik

or

Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Lucic - Lindholm - New winger
Mangiapane - Ryan - Rieder
Czarnik

I still just look back at the fact we were in on Ferland to some degree, almost acquired Zucker/Kadri as a pretty clear signal that Tree is after an upgrade to the top 9.

Or nothing happens, and we roll:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik/Bennett
Lucic - Ryan - Bennett/Frolik
Mangiapane - Jankowski - Rieder
Czarnik

(I’m assuming Rieder is getting a contract and Dube will be used as a call-up)

I keep coming back to Jankowski as the piece that doesn't fit. It's too bad we have no cap space because if we could get Toffoli out of LA, he would look great on the top line (there were some rumblings in the past week that they might look to move him.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Toffoli
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Bennett
Dube - Backlund - Frolik
Mangiapane - Ryan - Lucic

would be all-world. But I don't see any way we could acquire his $4.6M cap hit (other than moving Frolik, which disrupts the middle 6)

Would people do Brodie for Toffoli? Who adds?

LA has an abundance of young RH Dmen.

How about Brodie ($4.65) and Jankowski ($1.65) for Toffoli ($4.3) and one of the D (<$1)?

Upcoming RFA for upcoming UFA. I could deal with Toffoli for Brodie. It pushes Lindholm to C which I think is a goal for the team. We just need a stable RS winger to replace him on the top line. So yeah i could deal with that. But how much of the free space we get next year affect the rest of the team? Is he a 6m a year kind of guy? If he absolutely smashes with Gaudreau and Monny we could be entering into another rfa scenario too. I like the flexibility a guy like Toffoli brings. Its ideal.

Shipping Brodie and Jankowski for Kadri and Brown would've been a nice "locking in" for that window sort of deal.

Don't get me wrong, I've been a huge fan of both guys, but lately they've been rather average to uninspiring outside of those once in a blue moon games where they decide to put out a Gio-like effort all over the ice. If we're actually going for it in the next three years, they need to be better than they've been, and I'm not sure if they're going to be.

Toffoli will also be a UFA.

And yes, if he knocks it out of the park with Gaudreau, then he'll be looking for big coin. But that's a good problem.

Yes they did, but as Treliving added: of course there is always some turnover.

What they meant was they were both glad that they didn't have to ship someone out under duress, at pennies on the dollar. That doesn't mean there won't be any roster moves.

I'm pretty sure the nod to moves that made us substantially better was a reference to Neal for Lucic. Neal never jived with this team.

From the looks of things he doesn't jive with his new team, either!

According to cap friendly the contract is 7m per evenly but I keep hearing reports the final year is 9m ?
Has Cap friendly posted their year 3 on Tkachuk incorrect?
