Can't say that's a successful start to the day.

That said, until Stone is elsewhere I'll think we're still there.
Not selling the farm for a rental is successful enough for me. No need to trade just for the sake of it

I'm guessing we end up getting Simmonds for a 2nd or something to that effect.

Meh.

I'm OK with the team standing pat if the deals being presented don't make sense.
Yeah, we'll see how it all boils down. In Tree We Trust.

I don't think the Flames were looking at Stone or Hayes as a rental, seeing as all 3 of our GMs/AGMs have said no 1st for a rental.

Pretty sure that Ottawa wanted Hanowski added and didn't know he was gone.

Something big...

Maybe Ceci and Boedker were also part of the deal with Stone?

If Dorion louses this up the Sens get exactly what they deserve. I can absolutely see them getting a worse return the longer this goes than they probably would have received last night. I can also see it falling apart completely and they lose him in free agency for nothing at all.

very likely this is a Flames player

Ryan Leslie @ryanleslie73
Just heard from one NHL’er who mentioned they are following this day closely but know that any additions certainly could help or possibly “mess with our chemistry.”

Catch 22 for sure.

Johansson, kreider, Hartman, Granlund, and I think there's a rabbit tree will pull out of a hat too.

The biggest move the flames could make today is to have the courage to do nothing

If it is the former then I see Calgary going back to the table at the right time today.
Based on what Maloney said, it sounded like Ottawa is still asking for too much.

Board meltdown if what we do is Simmonds for anything of value.

Stone could also be throwing a wrench into it.

If teams are looking for an extension, and he is asking for 8 years at $11M for example (supposedly he turned down $10.5 from the Sens) then maybe teams are looking at the total cost of acquisition (assets + contracts) and saying no chance.

Mentioned other day - boedker is a good versatile target for right price.

Craig Custance @CraigCustance
Told that Red Wings have not asked for Kronwall's 10-team list and they won't. This isn't a normal transaction. A legacy player. Sounds like they'll only approach him if there's an offer worth having that conversation over.

Simmonds for a 2nd is sounding a lot more likely than it was last night.

I think at this point I’d rather just do nothing.

It's an arms race at this point. Not doing anything could be worse.

I'm okay with Simmonds, as long as the price is right. He'd be a great top-nine soldier to add to our ranks for a playoff run.
