Yeah, but since the Sens haven't allowed contact, this is their ask for a rental.

Guess what I'm saying in that each of their respective stances, the Flames have the opportunity to walk away vs pay the exorbitant price.
Sens simply must take best deal on the table, and it's awfully unlikely anyone will meet current asking price for rental.
It would be an unprecedented rental cost.

Potentially this isn't his highest possible value but it's hardly selling low.
As for this tread. The Sens can go pound sound. Circle back to Stone July 1st.

One of the three young Dman will have to be moved eventually. Expansion draft is coming, could potentially lose one of them for free.

Me too, I think Kylington could have the most offensive potential.
We already moved Fox so I don't think trading another one is smart asset management.
(Worry about the expansion draft later)

Getting Stone economically doesn't work for me.
If the Sens can't resign stone and he wants a high contract value, the Sens better be prepared to take back Neal and Frolik in any deal and reduce their ask.
|
With his name popping up in that NYR rumour, I think the plan would be to move Brodie in the off season. That'd make room

In the shorter term, there is one extra body on the left side. Something has got to give Stone trade or not.

The Stanley Cup will be awarded 3 more times before the expansion draft.
Even if you're worried about losing one of those three guys for nothing, there is still plenty of time to address that.

Valimaki doesn't need waivers and it's not like he's too good for the AHL

I think the player getting overlooked in all of this is Hanifin when it comes to considering the depth of the team's defense, especially on that left side, going forward.
When you're trying to decide of whether to trade Valimaki or Kylington, you're effectively making the decision on who would be the team's third pairing d-man in five years, assuming Gio is done by then.

|
you're right; i added him thinking we needed to shed salary to fit Stone in now, but i believe the salaries are prorated, so we would only be responsible for the salary remaining this year i think... which is ballpark 1/3 of his 7.350
Frolik does have an partial NTC, so he could very well reject moving to Ottawa...
so, admittedly, that proposal was skewed to the flames...maybe swap out frolik for a B prospect or mangi/czarnik...

Dude, what? The way you draw conclusions is dumbfounding at times. I just can't follow.
Size bias? Kylington is hardly a small guy, Andersson has an inch on him maybe? Though more portly. Neither are big guys, neither are small guys. There is nothing to suggest the organization favours Rasmus because of some fabricated size bias on your part. Outscoring ? Sure but out pointing is Rasmus.
Andersson got a shot on the top unit with Giordano mostly of cause of right-lefty. He's a right handed shot, and has a bit of a cannon.

I wonder what offers the other teams in the hunt for Stone could offer? Maybe CGY offer is the most enticing due to young defencemen.
I know that during the draft they have a system establishing value on players and picks ie top 3 pick is worth idk 1000 etc
There has to be something tangible to assess the value of players in trades as well.

That is quite a high anchor. The one thing on our side is the deadline, and no deal is better than a bad deal.

I have seen fans do this. Is there an established system that NHL teams use?

I’m thinking shorter term than the expansion draft - not necessarily this year, but next. Are we thinking Valimaki is an AHLer next year? I think not.

This thread reminds me of how the Flames nearly lost Rico Fata in an expansion draft.
I would rather it be Brodie as the outgoing D man. Love all of the young guys right now, and salary has to go the other way.

Probably not, no. But the potential for Brodie to be moved is high and Michael Stone as well.
