I just wanted to say, usually as I go into threads I hit "last page" and follow along from there. THIS thread, however, I ALWAYS go to first page and hit "first unread" so as not to miss even a single letter of any post of E=NG.
Sure it goes off the rails sometimes, but even then, wouldn't wanna miss a second of it.

I find Shannon kind of harmless. He's not a guy I look to for great NHL insight like Brian Burke or trade rumours such as Bob McKenzie but at least he's not one of those hot take (Steven A. Smith, Skip Bayless) guys like Kypreos has become where they say stupid things just to get a rise.
So Shannon goes on Oilers Now a week or two ago and tells Bob the reason the Oilers are struggling and Flames are doing well is because the Oilers get teams "A" games due to a beautiful rink and Connor McDavid. The Flames on the other hand, are just another date on the calendar and get the teams backups. Teams just don't get up to play the Flames like they do the Oilers.

Shannon is now one of the Oilers synchophats roped in by Lowe to be an apologist and use his precious national presence and reputation to pretend to give unbiased coverage of the Oilers.
A few years back he started, out of the blue, really beating the McDavid drum every time he was out east on TV. Clearly he knew his plan, and sure enough the next season when they moved to the new rink, he was based out of Edmonton on the intermission panel. Oilers know that he can sprinkle in appearances with his contacts out east like Primetime Sports, and the Oilers get national biased coverage. People still see Shannon as some national guy and unbiased, when really he is now a guy the Oilers have secured coddled in house. That’s not by coincidence, and the Oilers know exactly what they are doing in bringing a guy close like that.
Debrusk, very very similar. He had just started to shed the stink of the regional broadcasts and his Oiler past and making a name for being a quality colour guy nationally.
Then they moved Remenda to the same panel as Shannon and Debrusk back to call regional games, and now he too is again an Oiler apologist, doing most regional games and then using his national gig and presence to turn the Oiler Saturday or Sunday games into more very slanted coverage by him.
Again, no coincidence that the Oilers wanted him close to the team so that his national, supposed unbiased coverage, comes out with an Oilers centric tone.

Well that's just dumb. Maybe the Oilers struggle because they're not good at hockey.

i was with some friends earlier today and at one point we needed to saran-wrap some food. they got their costco sized box of it (resinite?) and begin to wrap... quickly noting that when using the cutter that it only really works well when going from left to right, but they always forget and it's just a pain when going right to left.
i told them i had a perfect solution and went and grabbed a jiffy marker.
i then drew on the top of the box, on each side of the cutter. a flames logo on the left side and and oilers logo on the right side.
i put the marker down and said, "there - now you will never forget becuz the oilers, like the right side of the cutter, are no good!"
most of the people there thought that was funny, except for the one oiler guy - it didn't go over so well with him! ha! ha!

yes because the other professional hockey clubs have no idea who they're playing, the number one team in the west 2 in the league or the perennial lottery team, which team would you get up for John?

Why not just hit the little arrow beside the thread on the main page? One click gets you to the first unread.

There's also the factor of taste. I have a Flames vanity plate but acknowledge that it doesn't exactly look great on my blue car. This plate will really only look good on a black or red car (maybe white). Good luck finding any car color that's going to look good in Oilers orange.
I'm just as big a Flames fan as a Raiders fan but I have much more Raiders gear because Silver & Black is a lot more stylish than red and yellow. I find most Flames merchandise to be ugly so I don't wear much of it. Doesn't make me less of a fan.
Could be that as Edmonton is no good so are the Raiders. Maybe no good teams have fans who are more willing to show allegiance as a demonstration of loyalty.

Shannon never misses an opportunity to highlight suspension worthy plays of flames players. I have never once seen him publicize that the league is looking into suspending an Oiler. He’s done this probably 3 or 4 times against the flames, tweeting it and then talking about it on T.V.
I remember at the height of the McDavid/Oiler love fest when Shannon went on Tim and Sid to publicly declare how much better the Oilers future was to the flames. He then asked Tim and Sid who they would pick, they all agreed it was the Oilers as Shannon could not stop smiling and talking about McDavid. He is an Oiler shill through and through
