Putting any player in the minors gives a maximum cap savings of $375k + league minimum salary ($650k) = $1.025 mil

Good post. I agree.
Patience often wins out over taking shortcuts if the talent and character is there.

Every interview I've seen of Ryan Spooner he seems like a dullard. That is all.

Ditto for Craig MacTavish.
I don't know if it cracks Peter Chiarelli's top three.
|
Spoiler: it doesn't.
1) Trade is one for one
2) Griffin Reinhart
3) Looch

Remember when Rattie was in pretty much every second trade proposal on here?
Glad that never happened

I expect Rattie will get claimed. You need to keep him in the NHL but rosters get expanded in just over a month. And in the next month, you have essentially one week without hockey. At his $800k salary, he is a pretty easy pickup. He is only taking up a roster spot for about 3.5 weeks.

Truthfully that chain looks like pretty solid asset management to me. More than a handful of good players over 35 years. Looks good.

What about all those people that picked Rattie in their hockey pool just because he was supposed to play with McDavid? Gotta feel for those poor lost souls today.

Peter Chiarelli being an inside man for the Flames is fast becoming the only possible explanation left.

Why not the entire league?
I do not think there is a fan base or organization anywhere that is happy with the Lottery Champs.
But of course, if you ask Oiler fans it is a conspiracy.
Nope... everyone else is just sick of having the lottery odds changed to avoid the Oil Tankers drafting in the top 5 again.

Yeah 35 years to keep assets rolling isn’t bad. It’s just the nose dive it took at the end. I wonder what the longest one of these webs would look like. The longest current active asset streak.

I don’t feel bad for them picking a player with 27 points in 78 games over 6 years
That’s just dumb

That Sabre’s board sure sounds fun. Tell us more.

Only minor surprise was Rattie... thought someone might take a flyer on him but it really wouldn't have helped the Oilers cap situation much had they. Spooner is pretty much a slightly cheaper Lucic. Get used to that contract for the rest of this year and next Coiler fans.
