I love this season, it feels like the Oilers set a new bar for how no good they can be just about every day.
Although that can be said for most seasons.

McDavid is a great player, but he isn't without faults considering his age. Problem with Edmonton is they arent helping his development as points trump everything. They go out of their way to cherry pick stats and situations that make him look better. It is comical to see them put McDavid for the sole purpose of collecting points (late pp time, don't manage his minutes in blow out games etc.). Would love to be a fly on the wall in those top level strategy meetings.

What a great sports weekend.
Then Chia does this and just puts the biggest cherry on top. Hahahaha
Eberle for nothing.
And Staples predicting 30plus goals for Rattie. Hahahah.
Oh boy.

This is nonsense. That would have McDavid on pace for +160 points. Something that has not been seen in twenty three years. The last player to do it was Mario Lemieux—possibly the best offensive player of all time.
No one is going to get anywhere close to 160 points—not for a long while.

Exactly. McDavid has all the talent in the world - probably the most talented player in the game. But what have the Oilers done with him? The organization isn't working to make him better, they treat him like he is special - they change the rules for him and baby him. And they whine that other teams, and the league, don't treat him special.
McDavid should be the best player in the world. But right now, he is just a very talented young player that hasn't raised his game to where it could be - and should be.
And that is Edmonton's fault, not his - they just keep making excuses for him, instead of helping him, and pushing him to be better.

I was watching the game Saturday at the pub with a group of friends so might have this quote a bit off, but it was shown on the screen as something like:

It is certainly true that the Coilers can't play "the Flames game" as the Flames' game is ice hockey: fast, skilled, good defence, solid depth throughout the lineup, team chemistry and a strong work ethic.
But what is "the Oilers' game"? Really bad hockey? Slew footing guys then running away like a frightened kindergartner? Punching guys when the linesmen already has them tied up, or sucker punching them? Acting fake tough then getting blown out? I suppose it is true... the Flames don't play "Oilers hockey"... but then... who'd want to?
"Oilers hockey" is not winning hockey, but drafting high year after year to ruin those picks. "Oilers hockey" is icing a cap team that isn't .500. "Oilers hockey" is being the joke of the league, year after year after year.
Good luck with that. I'm quite happy the Flames will stick to their own brand of hockey.

Very curious what's going to happen with the next coaching search. I bet Hitchcock's experience has lead to heavy doubts for established coaches. This leaves them trying to find the smart up-and-coming coach (again) or re-tread someone like Gulutzan who would be desperate for another shot.
Any early candidates out there to be the new Eakins in Edmonton?

i can't tell what i want more, an announcement of a chia-grade trade, a chia firing and and lowe/mact being the ones delivering the message and taking over the role for now, OR best of all, a few people from oiler management (chia, mact, lowe) giving the old "we are disappointed, there will eventually be changes -> no stone unturned" type speech with a bit of "know something about winning" sprinkled on top!
