We overlap by 3 days.
I’m there with my son from 4-18 April.
I can’t wait to soak up the atmosphere!

My favourite is the out right refusal to refer to Treliving as a good gm, only saying he’s ‘average’. Dude built a top of the line team with one top five pick (and that pick isn’t even a big contributor). Treliving definitely ain’t perfect but when I look at the landscape of gms it’s pretty clear that he is in upper tier company. I’ve roasted him and have been wrong many times. Trading for Hamilton was a god damn stroke of genius, but not more than trading that same player away for Lindholm and Hanifin. The typical GM in the NHL wishes they had two landslide deals like that. Weakness is still signing middling veterans to too big of deals but I can live with it. Also our prospect development has just skyrocketed since he took the reigns. Edmonton should be jealous of our GM. Probably the biggest difference in the clubs is the management, because lord knows that the oilers have all the luck, at least draft wise.
The "average GM" comment was the one that bothered me most too.
Had an interesting exchange with a colleague in Edmonton about 3 years ago. He lauded the generational talent of McD while I lauded the amazing work ethic of BT.
Wondered which going to be more important then, I think last night answered the question definitively!
just watched the game. Score seemed to flatter the Oilers, the difference between the teams is staggering. Oilers maybe have the best individual player in the league, but that's about it. Blueline is a joke (not good when you need to have Nurse on for over 29 minutes because the other defensemen suck so much) and they have no depth up front. I hope they trade their 1st and still miss the playoffs.
this season is just so much fun. Enjoying every moment of it!

They’ve shown the Hamonic shove on McDavid about 200 times (slight exaggeration) and no one has mentioned the high stick Hamonic took from McDavid in the same sequence. Not a big deal... just say’n #BattleofAlberta

That Monahan goal was actually incredible and part of why hes so amazing. To get your own rebound, on one knee, and softly lift it opposite corner from your original shot while sliding across the net... just ridiculously underrated talent. Few guys in the league score that goal.

Score flattered the Oilers big time, Koskinen (SP?) bailed them out lots.
For the most part except on the power play the Oilers didn't have a lot of offensive zone time. They looked like the tired team playing its third game in four nights.
And lets not fool ourselves, Hitch has to say that Connor was the bestest player on the ice because the poor lad is probably mentally fragile at this point of the year. Honestly the Flames did a great job of shutting down the Oilers only good player.
The Oiler hope that when Klefbom returns or Sekera returns that they'll bolter into the playoffs is just fooling themselves.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

And you just know when he did the second shot on one knee he was staring at the Oilers goaltender and saying

First game at rogers place. Nice venue to see a bunch of defeated fans sit quietly through another demoralizing loss.
I sat by myself proudly wear my brand new #19 retro. Wow they hate Chucky, but my favorite part was the guys next to me shuffled seats to get their A+ trash talker to sit next to me.
Over the next 2 periods they went from cussing me, to us laughing at how sucky the home team was, and one of them asking if he could hit the ice with his jersey. The best part was in the 3rd he made his girl get up and buy me a drink!
The night at the rink ended on a high note with me and a group chanting go flames go at hitchcock as we stood to the right of Debrusk in their Gretzky lounge.
I was at both games this weekend and it was the best experience as a Flames fan ever. Just amazing. I love this team!
