It would've taken you all but the click of a mouse button to find out he's a reporter with the CBC. David has worked with CBC TV and Radio in Calgary and now works out of Toronto.

That's if you would've bothered of course.

Kaine is right that communication and lack of clarity was the demise of this bid. There misconceptions for some people (like the Edmonton having part of the games) have about it that didn't convince them to be in favour. Kinda comes out similar to CalgaryNEXT in that it didn't get people talking about vision of the project, and just focused on the risk and costs.

Bidco couldn't organize a birthday party at Chucky Cheese. What a waste of money this has been.

Unfortunately a no vote will make a deal more difficult. Less reason for the city to get a deal done.

With the other bid cities on shaky ground, I wonder what the IOC would do if they had no bid cities for 2026.

That is a bizarrely chippy response. It’s a fair question. I didn’t know who he was either.

No vote seems to have a lot of UCP organizers involved. They know how to get out the vote.

Yes vote didn't even have scrutineers by some reports.

Lambs to the slaughter?

Or is it that the No vote was more motivated to go vote today?

I don't agree. Arguments from some councillors on the no side is that we should use our money for something different. The arena should come right to the forefront now.

My biggest complaint about the whole thing. Personally I would rather not have increased taxes to pay for them but if they had come to the table with a much more fact based vision instead of a CalgaryNEXT 2.0 it personally would have been a much harder decision for me, and a lot of others I suspect.

Give a deal to SLC because that's what the US networks want.

Any reason why no local news networks have cut to this as a breaking news story?
