Tomorrow is the perfect game for Smith. Prove it or lose it. Rittich is ready to take over, can Smith keep up?

Love to see him rise to the occassion. If not, hand the keys over to Rittich.

Absolutely agree. Tomorrow has got to be about Smith's last chance to rebound before Rittich gets a big run of games. Peters isn't dumb, and he's suffered with poor goaltending before, his patience for Smith figuring it out must be wearing thin.

To boot the players seem to play hard for Rittich, not that they don't play hard for Smith. They seem determined to block pucks for Rittich and do whatever it takes to win. They seem to play for each other.

Pretty meh game, but Flames took advantage of their chance and the Kings... well, the Kings looked pretty bad.

Great games by Hamonic and Rittich. Andersson, Valimaki and Bennett also had great games.

Hopefully Smith can bounce back tomorrow.

Too much pissing all over Smith in this thread. All he did was sit in the bench and looked good.

Rittich was solid and stopped what he should. Rittich’s best save was the breakaway on shot 2, but the puck wasn’t elevated.

Smith, all things being equal (and assuming he stopped all the pucks he should), would have gotten the SO too. Kings were not threatening.

Hamonic was a beast, and Bennett had a good game too

I have no trouble starting Smith tomorrow, just hope the Flames keep the grade A chances against down.

A little bittersweet. In Vegas for a few days and got here just in time to rush to the sportbook to put money on the over and Flames to cover. The spread was 1.5 so there was good money on Flames to cover.

When I saw it 1-0 right away I was dancing.

Flames shouldn’t be a favorite tomorrow so will take them to win. We’ll see about the over.

Which begs the question if the rest of the locker room are just tired of Smith constantly calling out people and would rather rally behind Rittich

Glad we got the win and Rittich the shut out, D played great but man what a dull game couldn't wait for it to be over.
That's what happens when the NHL schedules a game same day only hours after an NBA game. That ice was garbage after the first period and just got worse in the third.

can anyone believe that we nabbed Rittich out of a random Czech league? He has really come into his own

Czech Superliga is the same league Dominik Hasek, Jaromir Jagr, Jiri Hudler, Michael Frolik were from. It's not a random league, it's one of the better European leagues after the KHL and SHL. IIRC it's considered a better league than the Swiss league and not far behind the FEL. But yes it's definitely nice to have the scouts discover an NHLer outside of North America. Our Euro scouts are usually pretty bad.

You're right, random league wasn't the right term. Just nice that the Flames were able sign a guy with no pedigree who has turned into such a quality player in 3 years. A late bloomer for sure.
