I have to agree with others here, that was a fun game to watch. They were fast, very fast and seemed dangerous on a lot of rushes up the ice, not just one line either but all of them. I wasn't hoping and praying we didn't get a goal against when our bottom pairing was on the ice with our fourth line like in previous seasons.

This is so refreshing, I am so excited about the rest of the season, I am very excited and proud to be a fan again.

Great job Flames, great game by the top line and I think Bennett finally has a good line to play on? I hope they keep that line together for a few games.

For example, I don't believe that Gaudreau played differently because Peluso was in. Like I said, I can't prove that, but at the same time, the opposite can't be proven either.
Peluso may not have a huge effect on the game (I think he has a little) but if something stupid does happen with him in the lineup we don't lose our #4 defenseman with a broken jaw. If he is playing well, which he seemed to, then I think it's an overall benefit to have him in.

The more I see Czarnik the more I think we got a steal there. Could we see the kid get 50 points or am I being unrealistic?

I think he couldn't take liberties because they were behind and couldn't afford to take bad penalties. The fact that the Flames cashed in on two power plays off the bat helped as well.

I guess one could ask the Preds if they were intimidated. Or ask the Flames if having a fighter gave them confidence. But even then you are getting the stock answer.

I’m just going to weigh in, he’s not proven wrong. This debate has gone on in the past on this very website.

A lot of special needs individuals find the word incredibly disrespectful so don’t say it. Pretty simple stuff really.

I volunteer in a number of events for Special O and the very organization you cheer for and discuss on this forum participates in these same events every year to support special Olympics Canada. Part of their participation is to help raise awareness on why ignorant comments like that need to stop.

OK, then may I suggest putting it in the forum filter so we don't have to worry about it? If the word is only offensive just filter it out

If he can play well like this, I have no objection to playing him. However, I think Hamonic fights whether or not there's a better candidate to do so sitting in the bench. That's the kind of guy he is. Now, maybe Peters gets Peluso out before it happens, but maybe not, since Hamonic is a regular and so is Gudbranson.

And maybe they are. But Peters system is also quicker. I’m not sure yet if it’s the new players or coach but it’s definitely more interesting to watch.
Yup, great take. While the roster imprivements are noticeable, the only huge impact from the newcomers to this point has been Lindholm (while the others have been adequate to good), the big dogs from the old roster are carrying the mail so far.

So that lends further credence to the theory that the main hinderance was how the top guys and defence were being deployed and a system that shackled them from being able to play the way they can be most effective - quick transition, creativity and active defence.

It was 1/3 roster needing improvement (depth) and 2/3 coaching IMO.

Team isn't perfect by any means but this roster under this system is playoff caliber.

Excellent game. Was surprised to see the shots near the end of the second period as it didn't feel like that was accurate. A few of my thoughts:

- The D did an excellent job clearing rebounds. Great to see
- I can't remember so many odd man rushes for the Flames. Great counter attack.
- need to see some secondary and tertiary scoring
- Good game for Bennett. Lost his edge twice on the PK. Needs to make quicker decisions but overall he stood out in a good way.
- Will the real deal Neal please stand up, please stand up? Seriously, he will be the whipping boy soon if he keeps playing this way. Just completely lost out there. Passes to no one. Running around in thr defensive zone and looks like he is skating in hummus.
- Great game by Smith and great for his confidence.

Or just be a mature adult and refrain from using it because it’s disrespectful to many people.

The best part of this game for me was watching Dube, Valimaki and Andersson play well. That's a great sign.

Didn't see enough mentally tough 60-minute games last year.

Relieved that Smith was legitimately good.

Bennett's best game in quite some time. Wish his goal counted.

Stone quietly good. Hanifin very good tonight.

Andersson looked pretty slight tonight. As did Dube.

Tkachuk has a legitimate presence that very few in the league do.

Ryan and Frolik had their best games, by far. Still some tinkering to do in bottom six. Bring Jankowski back in of course. Thinking Jankowski between Bennett and Neal. Then Ryan between Frolik and Dube. Though I could see Dube getting a game or two in the pressbox at some point soon.

This was certainly more convincing than Saturday's win. And against a very strong team on their own ice.

If he's stapled to Tkachuk' s line I think 40 is pretty realistic.

Though these guys will all have their dry spells which we will witness in due time. First week of play tends to get aspirations/expectations up.

Does anyone still think Dube is sent down after 9 games? If he plays like he has so far I just don't see it.

I thought that was a very solid road game by the Flames. Nashville started to tilt the ice with the full two minute 5 on 3 but I thought they did a great job of holding the fort and Smith played phenomenal.

Pretty big testament to see Dube and Valimaki out killing penalties. I thought the top two lines looked great and I’d definitely like to see that same third line out next game as they put together some solid shifts as well.

Great win overall!
