The one thing I think can work is a black third - if they go back to the retro colour scheme for home and away full time (but in a new jersey layout as mentioned).
I really like the white C on the black jersey - but just think the striping would need some work from somebody with photoshop.

Im just going to be honest right now, the Flames are just going to go back to the retros. The organization is lazy as hell and they don't listen at all to their fans, so im calling it right now that we're just going to have adidas retros as thirds.

I like this concept. The striping may need some tweaks otherwise it's a nice change from the current and retros.

The two on the left, with some tweaking, might be acceptable. Purism aside, the team is a business, so bringing in a new design every few years is a money-maker. I'd rather stick within the colour palette and allow for variations in the collars and striping.
