Obviously wanted Hanifin and Lindholm for Stone and Brouwer, and who wouldn't.

Hopefully the Flames sign Reaves to piss off the anti-truculence crowd.

Meh, people always get like this, but think of it from his perspective: He's got one shot to make his dreams come true. In the real world any of us do whatever it takes to give yourself the best possible situation in our careers and lives.

Yet when a player does it in a sports league we get all but hurt.

The NHL is a cold business to the players, they'll dispose of you the second you're not worth it to them anymore, yet their supposed to show loyalty and be all "gee golly, I'll push my way through that glut of defensemen because this is the team that drafted me!!!"

Screw that. Use whatever you have at your disposal to make your dream come true....and being able to become a UFA is one hell of a resource at your disposal!

Exactly.

I keep reading how Ferland was inconsistent or a streaky player.

This is such a great trade from an asset management perspective. Ferland and Fox wouldbe gone next year and Dougie in three. Hanifin and Lindholm will be under control for 5+ years.

Then add on that we got rid of an apparent head case, finally got a top 2ish RW, and that Hanifin has a decent chance to be just as valuable as Hamilton (different skill set though).

 I’m loving it.

Again, Kipper did the same thing, people didn't seem to mind much then, other than media types.
 |
why? Because its part of the gig. Its such a greasy move to duck out and allow others to answer those questions...why do any of them show up? Why not have your guys backs along with them?

Kipper never spoke to the media, this is true. At least he was consistent about it though and RARELY was he ever part of the problem. Hamilton? Not so much.

Wahtever though, it really does appear that there was major concern over something involving DH's personality and/or off ice life in regards to being part of a team here. Who knows...maybe he really did ask to be dealt?

This sounds like the Boston media in 2015.

For one, I'd be stoked if the Flames signed Ryan Reaves as an extra forward. Him and Versteeg would be the best extra forward combo in the league

and he is, just look at his game log. He lit it up in early November and then again around New Year, but that's about it.

IMO we lost this trade and I hate losing.

Time will tell and I REALLY hope I'm wrong, but at this point in time I'm not a fan of this deal.
