Brouwer actually has a fairly good percentage for a non centre. He's 51% in his career. He has a high fluctuation rate because of the infrequent draws he taked. In Edmonton he was 50%. 40% versus LA (on only 5 draws), crappy against Buffalo, but good (75%) against Winnipeg.
BTW, Stajan was 60% against Edmonton.

Thanks for the stats. Maybe it was their ultra slow skating and reaction time during the course of play that threw me off.
They both looked like a liability but what the hell do I know.

Why wouldn't you buy him out after this season. The cap hit is the same.

Hey man, Not me. I am just trying to predict what the Flames management will do. My guess is that they wont like the cash value of paying him not to play.

I think there is definitely something to this.
Not sure about Tre's contract and how it relates to things like that but I would imagine it will be a point of contention within the organization.

For twice the length is why. It would be an extra year of wasting $1.5 million. This wouldn't expire until the summer of 22 and Hamilton's contract expires in 21. At this point things could be very tight as guys like Tkachuk have already resigned too

Flames have a ton of cap space next year as it stands with the cap supposedly going up to around 80 million. Unless they plan on spending a ton in free agency I doubt they buy out Brouwer just yet. Unless of course they want him out of the locker room for some reason which I can't see either.

I think he's fine in the room. He is a very well liked guy - you could tell in the local skills comp. But organizationally they then could free up a playing spot, and not give him the embarrassing $4.5 million AHL assignment - they'd be giving him a chance to make a different team.
And cap space will depend on who they target in the of season, whether the rumours about Backlund's ask are true or if he wants more, Janko's contract.

If Brouwer plays one more year, the buyout is much more tolerable. Also, he may be attractive to a team with just one year remaining. Brouwer for 1 year at 2.5 may even be worth a 4th round pick or something. It's not ideal, but I don't think he's hurting the team playing down the lineup. No Stajan/Jagr/Versteeg (presumably) will free up roster spots for youth or an FA.

Backlund getting bounced a tonne is more due Tkachuk leaving his hash marks early to get a jump on the play but the ref doesn’t drop the puck which forces the Center to switch out of the face off dot. Happens way too much and the cheating is hurting the team tbqh..

Janko has made some blunders in the last few games that he was not making earlier. He has missed some breakaways because he is squeezing the stick too tightly. It seems like his offense has dried up since getting the nod to find a permanent residence. I think he will out grow Bennett.

Of all the things that are “hurting the team” this might be last on the list.

I don't think Babcock is a Nylander fan but he knows that Nylander is a fan favorite and a game breaker. Would you do a Brodie and Bennett for Nylander and Kapanen...I would.

Uhh huh? Does it help the team? No. So it hurts the team? Yes. To what degree is irrelevant. But thanks for coming out!

Easily arguable he is “cheating” on faceoffs to get an edge. He’s playing aggressively and with tenacity which most would agree actually helps the team. If he cheats on every draw and gets caught 49% of the time, he’s still helping the team.
But thanks for coming out!

Absolutely, I just don't see Toronto doing it.
