I do not really get the hate for Montreal. So many people hope they fail. I understand Toronto (center of the universe), Edmonton, Vancouver and to some extent Winnipeg (same conference).
Montreal is a storied franchise and the players have to put up with absolute hell from the Media. I cheer for Montreal if the Flames are out of it.

I watched game 7 of the 2004 Stanley Cup finals in Montreal. The entire city cheered for Tampa Bay and we were boo'ed when we walked into the sports bar with our Flames jerseys.

I hope nothing but failure and disappointment on that franchise and their fans.

I did not know that. Based my bias on a few local Hab fans and that stupid chant. Thank you.

I think Pacioretty could be a solid fit. Also thinking his price will be low.
 Brouwer+Valimaki+Dube for Pacioretty

 Gaudreau-Monahan-Tkachuk
 Bennett-Jankowski-Pacioretty
 Ferland-Backlund-Frolik
 Hathaway-Stajan-Mangiapane

The Flames already have a few other dman knocking on the door so dealing with strength. As for Dube, sell high while his stock is currently great.

Nah, how about we do trade a mid-first round pick and a guy who will top out on the bottom 6 for a top 6 player who has size and provides leadership.

With no first this year, giving up what I consider to be our two surest bets to become NHLers would be incredibly short-sighted.

Imagine if Fox goes full term at Harvard, and then FA. That would mean that our top five prospects (ignoring goalies) would be:

Andersson
Kylington
Mangiapane
Foo
Klimchuk

That is Oiler-bad, with no additions to that list until June, 2019

Absolutely derails the prospect list.

Who is he replacing in our top six?

With the current set up, the Flames have more of a top 9. I think he replaces Hathaway in that top 9. Personally, I think he can play anywhere and adds anotuer element of scoring when Gaudreau and Monahan go on their cold streaks together.

So you want to trade our best prospects for a decent 3rd liner......

Arguably the worst captain in the NHL and will need a hugencontract at 31 years old. It would be a terrible trade

That is fair but Dube to me isn't surefire. There have been numerous prospects over the last decade who did amazing and fell off. Maybe that's where my perspective comes from.

Poirier, Rienhart, etc.

Finding a scoring winger for Bennett and Jankowski would be awesome. But that price is too high.
The Flames aren't in the twilight of their competitive window, it isn't time to shoot our wad for one final run.

I think seeimg these propsed trades are making me want to stay the course. With our top prospects and some shrewed management going forward a 7 year window to compete seems better than 2 or 3 (if any of these trades are made)

No, no, no, no. Why the hell would we trade two solid prospects for a year and 20 games of a guy?
We're playing the way we've been wanting this team to play since the game 1. And we're winning now. Why change anything?

Yup, if the decent "3rd liner" is a 65 point player on the right side.

Personally, I consider the Bennett-Jankowski-Pacioretty line to be equally as important as other lines.
