I can't even be angry about loses anymore, especially stinking, foul, puke inducing lack of effort losses like tonight.

The Flames are like me when I was a kid, I was tremendously lazy and stupid until I knew that Dad was coming home from one of his road trips, and then I was a flurry of activity for the day before he got home, because I knew that if I didn't that hell was stepping though this door.

The silly and oblivious will look at the last 10 minutes of the game and say, oh well they tried and got oh so close.

But to me, that last 10 minutes dosen't matter, its like my Quarterback scorching a team in prevent defense in the fourth quarter for 2 touchdowns and 200 yards.

Its meaningless, but at least they can look at their coach with sad sad eyes and say hey man, we tried, but we're outty and merry christmas.

In the 50's and 60's the coach would have cancelled christmas and skated these bozo's into the ice on Sat and Sunday and Tuesday, but instead its, here's your cheque, see you in a few, hope you have a good Christmas.

Bleah.

This season is excruciatingly frustrating. I still find it hard to place the blame solely on coaching (except for Cameron’s PP). This was one of the best teams in the league in the back half of last season with GG behind the bench. However there is no denying the team is currently performing way below expectation.

A mid-season coaching change, whether deserved or not, has historically shown to provide a boost to a team. In recent history it’s worked twice for Pittsburgh as well as LA, St. Louis, Tampa and Columbus to name a few.

After going all-in this offseason Treliving must be feeling an awful lot of heat. It always sucks to admit defeat and fire the guy you hired but I’m not sure how much longer he can tolerate this club being outside the playoffs, with no first or second round pick in the draft. In a perfect world I’d love to see the team have carbon copy of last years second half, minus the complete cluster#### in goaltending but that’s very risky as the remaining schedule gets shorter and shorter. The next few weeks are going make or break this team, while directly affecting the longevity of Treliving’s tenure here as well.

Hold out hope for a repeat of last year, or cut your losses and hope for the boost a mid-season coaching change sometimes provides?

If the coach isn't willing to hold players playing like crap responsible, and reward guys who give a #### with things like power play time and ice time, this is exactly the kind of result you can expect over time.

I feel I should be really angry about the terrible game tonight. I was feeling good about the Flames and thought they were prepared to turn the corner. Then I thought to myself. Friday night before Christmas against the Habs would be classified as a big game right? Well if that is the case I was just wrong. When the game really matters and it is important to the fan base there is no chance the team is ready and they will come out flat and disappoint.

Yay for good advanced stats Gulutzan. You can’t get this team prepared to play a game that matters but they are sure good at Corsi.

Fire the coaching staff and save the season Brad!

That game was not a coaching problem. It was a player complete lack of effort problem.

My entire life this team has been mired in mediocrity. Only twice have I ever thought they could be more than a bubble team: when they signed Bouwmeester and this year. I am NEVER getting my hopes up for this team ever again. If they're good one day, great, but I'm not expecting that to ever happen.

This organization is mediocre from top to bottom. They're never truly horrible but they're never truly good.

Coaching is still awful. 14 seconds left on a power play with an offensive zone faceoff and these guys put Brouwer and Stajan on the ice? What a freakin' joke. Our 4th line would have a tough time cracking the top-6 of an AHL roster.

We don't even have a 1st this year. This team literally cannot afford to miss the playoffs and quite honestly, I don't think they're even going to come close. Good teams win 3,4,5 games in a row consistently. This team wins two.

I'm really pissed I wasted my Friday night going to this game.

I know everyone loves him for his 'personality' but Stajan sucks and needs to be waived, or preferably fired into the moon. He doesn't positively contribute to anything when he's on the ice and thats been the case for a long time.
Glen's management of the fourth line is also putrid. We finally score to make it 3-1 with 10 mins left and in effort to continue the momentum he throws out Brouwer, Stajan and Freddie. Like f****n why?

Gulutzan out

Gotta be one of the two.
It's just a bad situation all around when you have a group of professional athletes being paid ridiculous salaries that need to have a taskmater coach or a trigger happy GM to make them motivated enough to put in an honest effort.

Well, I’ll take solace in the fact that they played poorly and still came close to taking it to OT.

When the team is consistently unprepared to play a big game is that still not a coaching problem?

Sorry the soft gloves don’t work with this team. Bring in a tougher coach and get results.

Habs 3 Flames 2

- Flames fall flat for 75% of the game
- Bennett was a monster again
- late push makes it interesting

Crappy game to watch. It seemed like we had no teamwork or will to put in the effort.

The Habs played a pretty solid game, and outworked us for the first two and a half periods. Their speedy offense, puck control, and extra effort along the boards was admirable.

From the crowd reaction, it seemed like there were just as many Hab fans as Flames fans in the dome.

Watching our team change so dramatically, in the way they play from night to night, is frustrating.

Yikes, Anaheim could pass us in the standings tomorrow and Colorado could be 2 points back with one game in hand heading into the break. Colorado also plays the Coyotes on the 27th, so before we play our next game on the 28th, we could find ourselves 12th in the conference with two tough back to back games against the sharks and the ducks. hold onto your hats boys, it could get much uglier before it gets better.
