True, in which case, he shouldn't be the net front guy on the PP after all. Right now he's be a good Versteeg replacement. I like his shot, he can pass, and if he does get in close, he's got hands.

It is probably also worth noting that Jankowski has never been deployed in front of the net on a PP. From my recollection in Stockton he switched from the half wall to the trigger man. He is probably a more effective shooter/playmaker.
TBQH, Boruwer is effective in front of the goalie. He doesn't get points, but plays a pretty critical role. Gio's goal in Toronto was because of Brouwer's work in front of the net.

It's an underappreciated and underrated role for sure. Guys that play that spot get killed. Remember Ciccerelli and his back brace he had to wear? I think Ferland is a better option, and Tkachuk loves the dirty areas so
The PP does need some re-jigging though. I'd like to see a first unit with Gio and either Hamilton or Jankowski on the point/high slot areas, Gaudreau, Monahan and Ferland up front. People have been clamoring for Stone on the point because of his shot, but, while it's super hard, he misses a fair bit (did a self-zone-exit last night). It hasn't gotten through that much. He can go to the second unit - Brodie and him on the points, Backlund, Bennett and Jagr/Frolik up front.

The Flames may not play better under pressure, but the coaching staff definitely coaches better in that situation.

Janko has been trying to put on weight since high school. I doubt he'll be able to add much more than where he is already

It's working real well as evidenced by Brouwer's zero power play goals.

I am sure he can adjust just like our stick figure garbage man Sean Monahan (6'3" 195lbs)

See above. He can be useful in front without PP goals. However, I do think there are better options. Just not last night, missing Tkachuk.

NHL started tracking hits 20 years ago. Over that span, only six #Flames have had a game in which they had at least 1 goal, 5 shots and 5 hits.
- Cory Stillman (x2)
- David Moss
- Curtis Glencross
- Micheal Ferland
- Garnet Hathaway (last night vs. Mtl)

Unrelated but how the eff does Vegas have a 17-9 record?
Haven't seen much of them of course. That's ridiculous for a roster assembled of middle depth players from around the league.
Expected a drop off a couple weeks ago. What a weird season.

It honestly surprises me that Ferland isn't on that list multiple times.

Or Iginla (not that he was a role player that was relentlessly hitting on the forecheck, but jeez Cory Stillman x2..)

Successful two game road trip for our Flames.
I feel this team is ready to break out for a 5 or 6 goal night Saturday against the Nucks.
This team, in my opinion, is better than their record indicates and are poised for a little run of success here.
Monahan might have the most underrated shot in the NHL, just my $0.02

Was at the game yesterday and being in section 115, I had the privilege to see Monahan's game winner and not only is his shot underrated but he has a funky release which completely freezes goalies at times. Price had no clue he was shooting stick side as when he received Johnny's pass I felt he was going against the grain glove side as he does in shootouts.
As soon as he received the feed in the slot I was already up and cheering as I knew he would score cause afterall he thrives on these situations.
We are so fortunate to have him.

I was watching his release, it was kind of a pull back twist and flick all in one motion. In billiards you can use different types of English to control where want the ball to go. His release was kind of like that in that he probably has some control of where he wants it. The goalie can't really see that because of the way it comes off the blade.

I'll never force a filter on any fan, but if you deem him a fourth liner, he's a good one. If you look at the salaries on the team and where he sorts he's a hot mess.

Forget expectations and salary entirely.
Ruined 3M that up until that point could carry most players.
Rooms the powerplay, shouldn't be getting time there.
He played the 6th most minutes of any forward and hurt the team in those minutes. There's no rationalizing that. You can say "it's not his fault he's given those minutes" but that irrelevant to either his performance or my expectations of what he's doing for the team in any given night.

Been pondering this too. I haven't watched them much either, but I would say they are fast and extremely well coached. They play to their strengths and dictate pace. Reminds me of 04 Flames a bit.
That being said, I do expect a correction at some point in the season. Nevertheless pretty impressive run so far
