i've been beating the GG is no good drum for a while now and have taken a lot of flack from a ton of posters on here because of it.
Yet here we sit, after another embarrassing BOA beatdown (and yes it was a beatdown sans some late gifted goals due to terrible goaltending from Brossoit) with a Flames team that on paper should be running away with the Pacific division (given Anaheim's injuries) but yet instead sit at a measly 3 games over .500, in a dogfight just to make the playoffs (technically would be out if the season ended today), with a -5 goal differential.
This team is undeniably underachieving, as every GG coached team at the NHL level has.
He continues to make assinine player utilization decisions, and continues to have problems with in game adjustments and matchups.
The sample size is now at 248 games of GG being no good and anyone who still disputes this, whether it be the GM of the team, the owner of this site, or whoever else, is quite frankly the opposite of smart.

Absolutely spot on. Gulutzan is probably average right now, but you don’t become Mike Babcock or Joel Quenneville over night. Take a look at the 2 premier head coaches first 2 full seasons behind the bench:
Babcock: 69-62-19-14 / Average of 85.5 Points per season.
Quenneville: 82-61-21 / Average of 92.5 points per season.
Now look at Gulutzan’s:
87-68-9 / Average of 91.5 points per season.
Glen has actually had a better start to his career than Mike Babcock and only 1 less point per season than Quenneville.
Gulutzan has his warts, but he’s still doing some on the job learning. Would probably be worthwhile to allow him to grow into the position, given he already has very solid early coaching career numbers.
This is a good post.
Question I have is why the Flames hired a guy to learn on the job when they decided upon rebuilding.
Not the mention displacing a coach with a cup on his resume for an experiment

I wish people would use more discretion before using these terms about actual human beings online. From all indications, Glen Gulutzan is a fine man, agree with his coaching style or not.

LOL. Babcock took the Ducks to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final his first year. His record is mediocre because the following season Kariya bolted and Giguere lost his invincibility. He declined to go back to the Ducks after the lockout, took over in Detroit, and led that team to a 58-16-8 regular season record, and the conferene finals.
In no universe has Gulutzen had a better start to his career.

Is it possible that GG is more like Mike Johnston? Meaning good X's and O's guy but there is a disconnect between what he wants the players to do and what they are doing on a consistent basis? Or is it inconsistent basis?

I've been a defender of GG and don't have the energy tonight to wade into the debate tonight - but I find it odd that anyone would try to suggest the opinion that GG should be fired has caused someone to take a "lot of flak" from a "ton of posters".
It seems to me that overall the more commonly held opinion on here is against GG not in favor of him.
This is hardly a case of you having an opinion not shared by many others.on this forum.

When you have the perfect coach available for the type and style of game that the team should be playing for its personnel that is also a former 2X cup winner, it should make the staff a little uncomfortable.
Treliving has better jump on that or he'll get beaten to it my the loser organization up north.
Uh oh, didn't read what Scorp said? He said GG is a fine man, so, following your chain of thought, GG is a clueless fine man.

Care to provide any support for this unsubstantiated remark? I've provided many reasons in the past for my support of him. He's an indescribably superior option to the trainwreck that was the Bob Hartley Flames and the system, when it works, is far more effective. I'm sorry if you're sub-millennial, you will eventually see that it doesn't matter how nice a guy is, if he doesn't do his job, he's open to criticism. Just like the players and the GMs.
I didn't see the comment you're talking about, I'm telling you directly to stop being offended when people say the GG sucks large amounts of ass, because he does. He can't beat the Oilers. That IS the f'ing nutshell.
