Frustrating as all hell to see that. How that is not worthy of a suspension is way beyond me. That crosses the line between sport and assault by a good bit.
P.s. Anyone think the Flames should have speak out regarding this? I know publically calling out the league might not be the best thing sometimes, but no one watching that video could possibly endorse that behaviour from an athlete.

They seem to tend to find one scapegoat and they probably felt Witkowski's sentence would suffice / cover up the rest.

Checking over the penalties, they show Hamonic getting 5 for fighting and 10 game misconduct, Mantha gets the same and a extra 10 game misconduct, so I am guessing the reffs gave that for what he did, yet the league seems to have stopped the video at Tkatcuk's tap. Also going back and looking at witkowski penalties he gets 5 for fighting and 10 game misconduct + 10 misconduct against Kulak(is this for coming on to the ice and instigating a fight, although there is no instigator wording or is this 10 minutes for trying to smash Kulak's head into the ice?) then he is given another 10 misconduct, which I think is for coming back onto the ice. Would like to know does the league go over the video and the reff's statements of what the calls were for? And of the athanasiou, grabbing off of the bench of Hamonic, or Ferland's punches, is there also something about Howard crossing the center ice, not just leaving the crease? The league just seems half-a## in how they do lot of things, and I don't think how they handle this will be any different.

Garry Galley can testify as a key witness. Mantha instigated the fight with Hamonic and then continued throwing down fists even after the linesman tried to stop him. All within the confines of his own bench where no other Flames can get at him. What a little b*tch!

Yup. Officiating has been pretty disgusting these last few season. NHL needs to do something about it.

I agree, if Hamonic was left unconscious on the ground and bloody you can bet something would have happened to Mantha. Instead he was fine so they don't care.
I've always been a proponent of punishing the act and not the outcome.
