Well, I'm sure the Oilers didn't trade him away for anyone good.

If Barzal was on the Oilers he would have focused too long on finding McDavid for a pass, turn over the puck and then go for a change.

To be fair, Streit couldn't collapse down on Barzal because he was covering Eberle in the slot. Can't fault the Oilers for... oh wait, nevermind.

I think you can credit or blame Paul Reinhart for that. He seems to have done a very thorough job preparing all of his sons to play the game like pros, and in junior, against kids who played like kids, it made them shine beyond their actual ability. People saw Griffin Reinhart and projected his future as if he were an 18-year-old kid who still had a lot of growth to go as a player. They didn't realize that he had done most of his growing already.

By the way, Griffin Reinhart, who has just been put on waivers by an expansion team, was drafted fourth overall – like Sam Bennett, who has had an awful start to the season but has at least established himself as a bona fide NHLer. Just saying.

So, now they will assign him and recall Theodore, no?

Because of the weird make-up of their team, I think that this leaves them with 8 defensemen. They probably still want to trade a D and get another extra forward on the active roster, but there is no way that they are going to bring up Theodore if there isn't anywhere for him to play yet.

They still need to cut a D, or leave Theodore playing significant minutes in the minors. Unless there is a recent injury that I don't know about.

They also waived Garrisson so he's off the roster now too

Imagine what the Golden Knights record would be if McPhee didn't waste expansion picks on these guys...

To be fair, McPhee received a pretty handsome package to select Garrison, and picking from Edmonton was basically selecting the best of a veritable poo-poo platter.

Reminds of Bennett, also 4th overall.

They have lost only three games, and have looked very good in every game I have watched. I don’t expect that they would look much better through 11 games with different players that were available. On the whole, the League, the team, and the fans in Vegas have to be ecstatic about how this has turned out.

Barzal is going to be a great player. 2012 1st overall pick in the Bantam draft. Would have been a top-10 NHL pick had he not missed so many games in his draft year (still went 16th overall).

Horrendous trade by the Oilers. Oh, and they included the 33rd overall pick in 2015 as well! Dayum!
