Sam Bennett hasn't stopped smiling. The addition of Jaromir Jagr has put noticeable pep in the step of Bennett and his #Flames teammates.

Jagr is going to be sitting in the box a lot or watching other players skate around him in the new NHL.
Quote:
Congrats on getting older and slower Flames! Well job!
Quote:
Two desperate parties come together like the hook up at last call. Romantic
Quote:
Flames are so desperate to beat the Oilers that they sign a 45 year old. Good luck because come playoff time, Jagr will be out of gas and the Flames still won't beat the Oilers!
Quote:
haha oh yea i can't believe the Flames snagged that 45 year old that nobody wanted to sign all offseason!! FURIOUS! it's gonna be another smackdown by the oil i'm looking forward to it.
Quote:
Cant wait to watch mcdavid skate circles around jagr
Quote:
He'll struggle to produce with Calgary's guys. Unless he's playing with Gaudreau and Monahan, he won't get higher than 30. I just can't see it. Plus not being in training camp the whole time and having to learn a new teams system in Game 1, he'll look out of place.
Quote:
Flames signing Jagr is going to be like us signing Oates.
Quote:
We should sign Iggy just to spite them
Quote:
LOL love the Flames fans praising Jagr. I wouldn't be surprised to see him calling out Johnny and Monahan for playing a very soft game. They also think Jagr has a 'killing' instinct. Since when? He's never killed anyone ever in his career
Quote:
Flames can have Jagr. Slow is not how the NHL works anymore. We have a **** ton of cap space to use come deadline day. Flames won't.
Quote:
Where will Jagr be headed at the trade deadline?
Quote:
A few weeks ago I would have been pissed if Jagr signed with the Flames but now I kind of think it would be hilarious because of course they would. Then he won't score any goals for them in the post-season and CP will have a meltdown when Calgary is eliminated in the first round again...hopefully by the Oilers.
Quote:
A slow aging player who the majority of the league had room for but only 3 teams had any interest.
He probably like Calgary because he would be guarenteed a cushy spot. Just like Versteeg was.
Quote:
Flames going for cast offs, sloppy seconds, oldies, etc? No surprised.
FFS they have Ferklund as a 1st line winger lol.
Quote:
The Flames can have Jagr. They'll have little to no cap space for improving their team during the season and no high picks to trade either. On paper that's a pretty mediocre roster for the price it costs.
Quote:
Jagr signed at 1 mil + 1 mil bonuses (approx)
So either:
Calgary is the only place he would sign
Treliving is a genius for snagging him
or nobody thought he was worth signing
Which is most likely?
Quote:
Alot of sour grapes here. If the Oilers signed Jagr, there would be a ton of excitement.

Is there going to be an "Around the League report" on this, or have I missed!!
Around the League Report
Spoiler!
Quote:
How hard is HFOil going to freak out when Treliving gets Jagr in Calgary for dirt cheap over the next day or two?
Quote:
I would be pretty damn cross, given our winger weakness. I just don't know how you can look at our current roster and be satisfied.
It's not the Oilers most pressing need but it would be nice if Chia sniped him from the Flames as opposed to what usually happens.
Quote:
It's Chias turn to swoop in and steal a Guy Calgary wants.
There's no good reason to not have jagr with the rw depth we have
Nope
Quote:
It looks like Calgary addressed our needs: Top 4 dman and scoring rwer
Quote:
People say Jagr is slow while forgetting we have Maroon and Lucic....
Speed isn't everything.
Quote:
Not much to complain about. Flames got better today.
Only thing you can hope for is this is finally the year the wheels fall off.
Quote:
Stupid Calgary.
Quote:
Jagr would have been so good with Drai and Lucic. That line could have dominated pacific opponents cycling down low. Just 2M eh...geez.
Quote:
It baffles me that one GM in Alberta is doing what he can to improve his team and the other is taking the Tambellini route. We traded away Eberle for Strome (yuck), lost Sekera to injury for who knows how long, and signed Jokinen. That's... not good enough. On paper that team won't win the division or beat the Ducks in the playoffs.
Quote:
I always get a kick out of the way this thread melts down every single time the Flames sign anyone at all.
Quote:
I don't care that Jagr signed with the Flames but I just hate for how little of a salary it was.
hopes he hits none of his bonuses.
Quote:
Remember this Jagr tweet?
@68Jagr
I took a selfie when I watch McDavid score goal tonight. Not bad for 18 years old
Quote:
We should sign Iggy just to spite them
Quote:
if calgary can get 40-50 points out of jags, it is a total steal of a deal. I just wonder why he took so long? was he looking for term?
Quote:
Chia's a ****ing idiot. That is all.
Quote:
Some Oiler fans are acting like the Flames just signed Prime Jagr... not Grandpa Jagr
Quote:
That Grandpa Jagr is a better option than much of what we currently have at RW is a further indictment of Chia's work this summer.
Quote:
I'm willing to bet jagr outscores any rw currently on the oilers roster unless drai plays rw
Quote:
Too bad that Jagr went to the Flames. I'll have to hate him now. I don't expect he will have a massive year or anything though.
We should sign Iginla.
Quote:
Alot of sour grapes here. If the Oilers signed Jagr, there would be a ton of excitement.
Excluding Draisaitl (who should be 2C), our RW depth includes a rookie, a sophomore, Kassian, and Strome. There was absolutely room to bring in Jagr, and at the dollars and term, it made sense. He was a possession darling, and bulk of his points were on EV.
The blue line is also a mess, with Chiarelli having done nothing to improve it.
Lets start calling a spade a spade.
The Final Straw
Quote:
Sign Iginla. It's the only thing that makes sense.
This game is mental as well as physical. To see the beloved son of Red in the Oilers orange and blue will surely burn every single flames fan. Not to mention their coaching staff, brad wizard and BB. I mean, we're talking about a mental warfare this game has never seen, perhaps ever before. The flames are going to stop playing as they cannot bear this injustice.
Besides, Iginla signing with the Oilers is the last straw. After that, you could pretty much guarantee that the flames will re-locate to Seattle.

While Glen Gulutzan wouldn't confirm #Flames signing of Jaromir Jagr, he did say that Jagr called him yesterday and they had a good chat.

This was my favourite, because we have factual information to prove his first and third points are incorrect, so his attempted insult backfires and he calls Treliving a genius.
