I'm reading the partial transcript of the NYT interview, and I have to post this because this is peak Trump insanity. I really wish this weren't real so I could laugh more.

It's not horrible, but when compared to Obama's...it's just platitudes. Obama's is loaded with emotion. Trump's is, well...ok, that's about as generic a comment as you would come up with.
Curve grading him is how he ended up being President. Obama and Hillary actually worked with McCain so it's a lot different for them than the guy who said he doesn't like people who get captured. But "get well soon"....he realizes what McCain has right? It's not a cold, he's not signing his cast with a "get well soon". It was just a quickly prepared response that had to be made because if he didn't he would have eaten hell.

It's not horrible, but when compared to Obama's...it's just platitudes. Obama's is loaded with emotion. Trump's is, well...ok, that's about as generic a comment as you would come up with.
I didn't say it was the most compassionate expression of sympathy, I just think with everything else that's going on in American politics, senators reaction was a little over the top. I'm just not a fan of partisan sensationalism, even if it's against a political figure or party that I'm not a fan of.

My point wasn't to give him a free pass. What I'm saying is that your response of "are you ####ing kidding me?!" to his poorly worded message seemed kind of over the top for someone who's clearly been following his trainwreck of a presidency very closely. What were you expecting from this president? A tearful YouTube video tribute to McCain?I just think it's a waste of time to focus on little things like a poorly worded sympathy message when there are much more serious issues going on that people's attention should be focused. To me when people start nitpicking very basic human mistakes politicians make, it takes away from those people's credibility when they attack them for other more legitimate reasons. And it gives this president the ability to play the victim to his supporters, which if I had to guess, he'd probably try to use to his advantage. Lastly imagine how it would look if he came out for a press conference(if he ever held one) with one of his shoes untied and someone jumped out and said "Are you ####ing kidding me? Can't you even tie your shoes mr president?" Who comes off as more foolish in that scenario? People make small unintentional mistakes, even politicians, let's hold them accountable for the mistakes that actually matter shall we?

I would have expected something at least a little conciliative; considering McCain hasn't been some nasty thorn at Trump's side. So maybe publicly apologize to him for those things he said about his being captured as a POW, or at least word the statement to indicate he's sorry for how he acted during the campaign.
It's just another unchecked box from potential redeeming qualities of Trump.
Ignore the stupid clickbait title, really there is next to nothing about Trump in this great discussion with these 2 former presidents, but what is clear is seeing how nasty Trump has been with Obama after he became president is really showing us his character as a nasty, vindictive man child.
This is a great watch, lots of laughs and its really hard not to like Bush, funny guy.
